Which one is it?

That is false.

The Thunder had Wetbrook, Durant and Ibaka in 2008/2009 and won 23 games. They ultimately got Harden with the 3rd pick I believe.

You can have good young players, even a championship core, and be in play for the #1.

That is false.

The Thunder drafted Ibaka in 2008 but didn't sign him until 2009. The 2008-2009 Thunder team also did not have players like Lin, Asik, Dragic, or Parsons. They were also only two great young players on a bad team. You are boasting about four invaluable young players. I don't see the comparison here.

Durant went #2, Westbrook #6, Harden #4 i think.

You rookies went 12, 16, 18
There's quite a difference there.

He's also ignoring KMart, Parsons, Lin, and Asik. All better pieces than what OKC had. Their vets were Petro, Atkins, and Damian Wilkins

Are we all forgetting the rumors leading up to the draft? Wasn't Houston ready to give up all 3 draft picks for Dwight? According to rumors, Houston was even trying to get the 5th pick from Sac to sweeten the deal for the Magic.

Now suddenly, they don't want to give up the players they drafted?

Dick Vitale ‏@DickieV
Talking a franchise getting tooled it is Orlando- Magic don't deserve to being treated by @DwightHoward like this.

Anybody else feel this way?

ESPN has us 28th in power rankings.

We have average players and rookies in our 1-9.

We are in the loaded Western Conference.

Again, trading for Howard 2/3s of the way through the season makes zero sense for Houston.

We will be far far out of the playoffs.

This is one of the most peculiar discussion I've seen on RealGM.
A fan is trying to convince others how bad his team is.
Others are trying to convince the fan that his team is actually not that bad.

Besides Bensational (though I think he might be turning the corner), I think we all here, and various media people, feel this way.

It was a lot easier to deal with Houston when a) Dwight's reluctance to resign with them was coming from third party sources as opposed directly from him and b) Houston hadn't actually seen their rookies play.

Deal him and JRich for Lamb, Kmart and the Tor pick and call it day.

PG Lin/Livingston/Douglas
SG Richardson/Moore
SF Parsons/White
PF Montejunas/Jones
C Howard/Asik/Smith

And they have other guys on their roster like Patterson and Morris that they can flip to bolster their guard play.

I think that roster makes the Conference Finals. I would love to see him carry out his threat and leave $30 Million on the table to go to from a legit contender to go to a Mavs team where him and Nowitzki combine to make two-thirds of the cap.

akhenaten wrote:Hennigan got totally played by Fegan. Fegan knew all along he was going to intentionally leak everything that was said the second that meeting ended, to embarrass the Magic and make them look bad. He used it to push his own agenda to get Dwight to either L.A. or Brooklyn, and nowhere else. And if Hennigan didn’t see this coming, then he should have.

Serves the Magic right for, once again, hiring a rookie GM with no experience. Martins and the DeVos family knew this was possibly the most important summer in the franchise’s history, and to hire a 30-year-old rookie GM to navigate it shows how ignorant they are. This is big-boy negotiating, and I hate to say it, but I don’t think Hennigan knows what the hell he’s doing. I’m glad a lot of you guys have blind faith in him (despite his complete lack of a track record), but I think this is going to get even uglier.

I agree. He got bushwhacked and he probably doesn't even realize it. Let's hope he learns quickly. The Magic are in a tough situation and having a neophyte GM makes it tougher.
THAT'LL BE THE DAY!
