I would say Blatche >> Darko if possible.

Blatche seems like the product of inconsistent coaching, bad teammates, and irrelevancy in the pros. I think with the right guidance and leadership he can do well in a backup role.

Blatche seems like the product of a head full of f**k.

He is the bad teammate, not the product of one.

I just wanted to tell you that since you wrote this...I have been periodically cracking up during my day at random thinking about it. This is my new favorite expression...

"like a head full of f**k".

I just keep finding ways to work that into conversation...lol.

I too heard that this was going to happen.

meeeh, the good ole stone hands couple. They're the safe bet to fill the roster space.

I like NIN's idea of Oden though. High risk - high reward, but a 2 year contract with a team option after one for the vet min would be awesome.

Will Oden even be playing this year? I'd like to think that many teams would already be after him if he is.

It'd be low risk, high reward. Veteran minimum contracts are minor consequence. That's why we gave Jerry Stackhouse one to hold a clipboard and be a pseudo-coach.

His agent and himself were actually quoted as wanting to return this season but all of a sudden he is returning to school for the year.

That's why I proposed signing him this season to a two year vet min deal with the 2nd year being a team option. So if he returns healthy next season we'd have his early bird rights at the end of next season to enable us to keep a hold of Oden through holding his rights rather than signing him, showcasing him and not being able to match any offer he receives if he performs well.

Could you imagine if we traded for Howard per deadline and had Oden returning to the NBA after a full season of complete rest to build up his knees. We'd only need Oden for 10mins a night to come on, defend and rebound hard with potential for Oden to be of huge value.

If things go to plan throughout this season and we end up with Howard I could see Kirilenko opting out of his 2nd year with Timberwolves to join us along with Bogdanovic joining from Turkey. My dream lineup if everything goes well this year for next season would be:

Williams / Watson / Duhon
Johnson / J Richardson / Bogdanovic
Wallace / Kirilenko / Shengelia / Q Richardson
Teletovic / Davis
Howard / Oden

Trade Lopez, Hump, Brooks, Taylor, Evans and Stackhouse for Howard, J Richardson, Davis, Q Richardson and Duhon.

Add any vet min ring chasers to the roster.

Now as far fetched as that lineup might seem, it's really just a Howard trade plus Kirilenko opting out of his deal to sign for MMLE and a vet min Oden. It's nice to dream though.

Stay strong Mr Howard, Brooklyn is waiting.

PS did anyone else notice we don't play the Knicks after mid Jan and therefore won't play them in any game where Howard would play versus them if we were to trade for him?

That's actually not true.

When Oden did an interview a few months ago, he talked about making sure that he sat out the entire year to get his body right and going back to school while doing so.

Here is part of the interview he did with his friend interviewing him and here's the link (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/790 ... ued-career):
I thought Greg might retire from basketball after Portland released him. That's not happening. Right now, his plan is to take off the entire 2012-13 season, move back to Columbus, take all the time he needs to rehab his knee back to full strength, and continue working toward the degree that he abandoned after one year at Ohio State. Once he feels ready, he plans to sign with an NBA team in 2013 and (hopefully) string together a few years of injury-free basketball. No NBA player has ever returned from three microfracture surgeries, so there's no denying that the odds are against him. But here's the good news: Even though his appearance would lead you to believe otherwise, he's only 24 years old. There's still enough time to salvage a decent NBA career and maybe even reach some of the potential that once seemed so limitless. Not that he's thinking about it that way, of course.

"I don't care about what all of these injuries mean for any legacy I might have," he said. "I just want to play basketball. I could've signed with a team after Portland cut me and just sat on the bench and collected paychecks, but that's not my style. That just seems really unethical. Besides, money doesn't matter to me. I've got enough money. All I want is to get 100 percent healthy and get back on the court."

"But what if you can't get back on the court?" I asked him. "What if a doctor examines you in the summer of 2013 and says that if you play basketball again, you might not be able to walk when you're 50?"

"I'd just have to accept it," Greg said. "I'm at peace with everything.

Kenyon Martin or JO would be a lot better than Blatche or Darko...they're competent offensively, they're pretty good defensively (better than those two), and they're smarter than either. And even K-Mart/JO are less injury-prone than Oden. I get that Blatche/Oden are low-risk, high-reward guys, but they are most likely low-risk, no reward guys. Why not go with guaranteed low-risk, decent reward guys?

Don't see why anyone would be against either one for the vet. min or through a S&T. How many people are even comfortable with our interior defense as is?

^^Yes, Oden might have the itch to play but every injured player wants to return back sooner than the time that they should. You could still sense the doubt coming from Mike Conley Sr. And a guy with a riddled injury history like Oden should take all precautions before actually playing. He needs to sit out this season and then try it next year.

I agree but I'm just saying that they is serious noise from the Oden camp about returning this year, if you google it you'll see the column of stories on it.

playing teletovic or evans at center is a **** joke, i'll say that. hump is going to end up filling almost all of those minutes assuming we don't bring in another big.
