What does this even mean?

Huh?
Let's recount - shall we?
1. Someone starts a thread. Titled "Melo is a great passer".
2. I made a jape about it because he's made 4 assists while taking 63 field goal attempts during the Olympics - not a ratio that a great passer ever has.
3. You guys circle the wagons because someone has insulted the Melo.
4. I defend my position.
5. You guys try to make it about me.
Whatever. Good night.

5 is more like it. 5-6 assists with like 8 rebounds and a FG% of over 45 would be enough to get him into MVP talks and more importantly get this team to 55+ wins.
This is an honest question, not meant in any disrespectful manner...but how many SF's averaged 5 assists or more last season? Matter of fact, how many F's?
Lebron and Iggy.

I would think having Douglas and Fields in my starting lineup not even including a bum wrist....... 4 assists is pretty excellent.
A career high is usually a good thing, but I guess not on here.

So in essence, we're asking Melo to average numbers that only the best player in the league could top...bc Iggy had like 13 ppg and 6 rpg to go with his 5 apg.
To me, a lot of posters are being unrealistic about what Melo should put up...I'd love for him to be the best player in the league, but I'll take top ten personally. I think, could be wishful, that he can break into the top 5 even.

I does for me with **cough-cough Durant cough-cough**

You know damn well this cast of old men, broken down players (stat), bad fits and downgrades (felton) will become the best supporting cast in the league before Melo gets that credit...you know it!

Melo will get his credit, even in a Knicks uni.
But for RealGM purposes, some would rather kill themselves than to cheer for a team that can win alot of games with Melo as it's leader.
There are very few True Knicks Fans around these parts, no matter what they call themselves.

Wrong thread sir.

You're talking about Knick fans in a Melo passing thread. Wrong thread.

Not many as stated above. But as I said before, he will need to be an MVP candidate to get people off his back. In order for him to be an MVP candidate he needs to step his assist game up, while shooting more efficiently. Kobe Bryant consistently hangs around the 4.5+ assist range while being a volume shooter/ball stopper (or whatever people want to call dominant offensive players these days). In some of his best MVP like seasons he managed to average almost 6 assists per game.

If Melo wants people off his back, he needs to become an efficient scorer WHILE getting his teammates involved. Not saying he can't, just saying this is what he needs to do.
If there is one thing D'Antoni was right about, it was the fact that Melo should be a triple double threat every night. It is time for him to start living up to the expectations. This is coming from someone who likes Melo btw, seeing that I defend him in most my posts.
