I could see him wanting to stay in Orlando over going to Houston. If he goes to Houston he is right back into a rebuilding situation. This complicates things for Houston because they would be giving up some good things in order to rent him. Bynum on the other hand hasnt made a fuss about wanting to go to a contender. In reality, the Magic are stuck between a rock and a hardspot. Unless Houston really thinks they can really retain Howard, they will probably go after Bynum getting LA involved. This could work out better for all parties b/c it allows Orlando to send out more bad contracts.

If we were to get Bynum we'd still have to give up some good things for him to, while ending up with the lesser player and making the competition a dynasty team. A team that we'd have to go through to accomplish our main goal, a championship. Thats just stupid to me. We upgrade from a Mustang to a Corvette but help our opponent get a Ferrari. Now lets go out and beat them.

Bynum isn't only the lesser player, i dont believe he really cares about being the best. Howard maybe a few things but he gives 100% on the court unlike Bynum. Would anyone be surprised if Bynum got injured 3-4 out of 5 years or got fat and lazy after signing a max contract here? I like the Rockets lottery chances alot more than the possibly of Bynum staying in Houston, staying healthy, and improving his game enough to be the #1 on a championship team.

@red96 You make a good point and I dont disagree with you but Howard has made it clear he doesnt want to play in Houston and Houston even with Howard would be in rebuilding mode. What are the chances he sticks around having to go through that when he could just stay in Orlando with the same issues? Another thing is even with Howard Houston doesnt become more competitive with the Western teams for another 2 years to begin with. If Bynum stays in LA with that team Houston cant beat them until the current players retire or get too old. Hell they wouldnt be able to beat the Clippers with that team. Atleast if they acquired Bynum in 2 years the Lakers wouldnt be the same factor due to Kobe and Nash most likely retiring or seriously declining and Pau's future uncertain. Atleast they would have the nucleus of Bynum and Lin going forward with young guys vs more than likely no Howard going forward and out of picks for the 2013 and 2015 years atleast.

Well see the funny thing is that the Lakers will need to do a rebuild themselves. The core of that team is old very old and maybe has 2 years of Nash and 3 years Kobe and Gasol? Since they traded away picks for like 5 years a rebuild is going to be hard. Lakers really don't have a shot at getting Howard if Cleveland is not in this since the Rockets will not help the Lakers get Howard.

I would NOT throw the max at ibaka unless we have a center who can score in the post. The biggest problem the thunder have right now is that neither one of their big men have a back to the basket game so the defenders only have to focus on the perimeter players. Asik and Ibaka on offense would be terrible...

As would a Smith and Howard frontcourt but yeah not as bad.

Would not throw max Ibaka even with a low post scorer. Also would not give Harden max but if you are going to get OKC to walk away from Harden then you are going to have to

Ibaka is an overrated defender. He is a great if not the best shot blocker but overall none of that matters when you post him up he cant defend on ball. Max deal no. He's another specialist player that is benefiting from being on a winning team. Bismack Biyambo is capable of doing similar things.

Jefferson is in the same contract situation as Bynum and Howard (all 3 are UFA's next summer)
Utah has Favors and Kanter with team options next summer so they need to get a chance at center.
I think we can keep Lamb, White and Jones if we try to get Jefferson.
Kevin Martin + Marcus Morris + Greg Smith + the draft rights to Aldemir should be enough to get Big Al.

Martin would be the starter at shooting guard for Utah and would have a good chance of re-signing there.

SF: Gordon Hayward, Jeremy Evans, Marcus Morris
PF: Paul Millsap, Marvin Williams
C: Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter, Greg Smith
PG: Mo Williams, Earl Watson
SG: Kevin Martin , Alec Burks

Here's my 15 man Rockets roster for the season
SF: Chandler Parsons, Terrence Jones, Gary Forbes
PF: Donatas Motiejunas, Patrick Patterson, Royce White
C: Al Jefferson, Omer Asik, Josh Harrellson (Vipers)
PG: Jeremy Lin, Scott Machado, Toney Douglas
SG: Jeremy Lamb, Shaun Livingston, Zoran Dragic (Vipers)
5 rookies would probably make us the youngest team ever

I find it mildly amusing that Toney Douglas and Lin are now teammates..and Lin is now the starting PG while Douglas is now a third string guard(at best). Douglas played so horribly last year that the Knicks were basically forced to find a PG to fill in while Baron Davis healed up.

Since Motie is available to trade by Aug 3rd., there is a chance he is included in a Howard deal. Initiallly, i thought it was Jan 15th, but i was wrong.

Well, still wouldn't be quite as bad as Brook Lopez at max.

#Magic GM Rob Hennigan didn’t want to specifically address the availability of Andrew Bynum, but he ultimately said "we did our homework"

Doc says Bynum's knees more concern than Dwight's back...i felt the same way.

http://ballislife.com/espn-710-dr-klapp ... ards-back/

The knees have a much more "chronic injury" issue than Dwight’s back which is an "acute injury" that can be repaired with very little sequelae.
