Arenas reportedly looked good in workouts around LA.
Seems to me a veteran guard is available, and not a bad one for Beal to pass to if open. How bad is Gil at this point? Is he still better than A. J. Price?
Let's be honest, we've all thought about it at some point today. I, for one, want to see Gilbert back in DC. Even if it's just as a peace offering. But I don't think the Wizards would even consider the idea, just because of their past with him. It's a shame. Maybe it's a good idea, distractions/PR wise, but I dunno, I think it'd be nice to extend an olive branch and make things better. Make things about basketball, and nothing else.
BUT, I think if Gilbert signs with any NBA team right now, it'll be the Lakers.
There have been multiple reports of him working out and trying out with the Lakers over the course of the last year.
The Lakers currently hate their backup Point Guards (Steve Blake and Chris Duhon - who I'd sadly prefer over our current guys).
Eddie Jordan is an assistant coach in LA, and they're implementing his princeton offense... guess who used to run that offense for him for years in DC? Hibachi.
Reunite with Jamison.
Arenas is from LA.
He'd be like the 8th option, so hardly any pressure or reliance on him.
