Just with Lowry instead of him..

Not entirely accurate. The cap hit for Lin and Asik will be somewhere upwards of 16 million combined because their contracts are divided equally over 3 years in terms of how it effects the salary cap even though in real life they get their big ballon payment in that 3rd year. Plus they expire after the season if the experiment fails. Also consider that the Rockets still presently have enough cap room to sign a max free agent this summer to add to this mix.

Did I have it backwards??? I thought Lin was going to make $8 million a year and it was going to count as $5, $5, and $15 against eh cap.
Which max free agents should they target???

We don't need more Chase Budinger, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Chandler Parsons, etc. They are decent in their own right, but come on. Morey stockpiled all these picks in order to trade them for proven commodities, not to have 3 or more rookie projects on the squad every year. Lamb will be missed, but he has a ways to go before he is on Harden's level. He needs to develop better handles and passing ability to create offense for himself and others before they are even in the same conversation.

just don't know how much of no flopping will effect his game
now he doesn't have Durant and Westbrook to play off of
another question is
is Aldrich better than Smith?
is Hayward better than Forbes?

Dude flopped on defense from time to time because it worked, but his offensive game isn't centered around flopping. He can handle, he can shoot, he can pass, and he gets to the line because of penetration, not because of awkward off balance shots like Kevin Martin used to get bailed out on up until last year.

We got rid of Martin, for Harden. That's a win in anyones book. Case closed.
A bird in the hand, is worth two in the bush. (This is an apt analogy because of Bird rights as well!)
Yes giving up Lamb sucks. But you have to spend money to make money. You don't get value for nothing.
Have I used enough Cliche`s yet?
Also, Morey had to make someone else his Bitch. He was getting tired of cornholing New York every chance he got. You know what I mean, the joke grew stale.

i know it's a good trade for the team
but i still don't like it

the plan was suck the next 2-3 years to get high lottery picks
now we are back in the 10-14th pick range again
MaxRider wrote:are we giving up too much for Harden?
Martin is good as go, don't care
Lamb was supposed to be our future starting SG
i know Harden is a better player now
but without flopping is Harden really better in 3 years? (also expect Rockets to give him the max 60M 4 years extension)
a lottery pick from Toronto -- don't really know now
late 1st round pick from Dallas -- yea don't care much
early 2nd round pick from Charlotte -- well, Morey can always buy it back

I hear you, but that has NEVER been the plan. They have said as much. They want to rebuild through trades and free agency. Lets hope it works. In all honesty, either way requires some luck. Look at how crappy teams with high draft picks every year still continue to suck. Clippers for a long time, the Warriors, the Raptors, the Pistons, the Kings...I can go on and on. Everybody doesn't pull an OKC. You need that true superstar in order for that plan to work and those just don't come along every year. Typically you need the 1st pick in the draft and I don't really think we were worst team in the league bad even without Harden.

I think we were bottom 5 without Harden.
Harden jeopardizes our Draft position. Only reason i'm opposed to this.
