Yup.

Imo, the question of whether he's a legit #1 option is right back on the table. Legit #1s can produce efficiently against good defenses. Harden can't.

Bottom line -- he is who we thought he was -- a very capable sixth man. He is not the league's next superstar.

Bandwagon jumping in 3...2...1...

Still worth it and still have him and the Rockets as a .500+ team.

Gonna be fun watching him go up against Thabo in a few weeks.

Jonathan Feigen ‏@Jonathan_Feigen
Harden has been unavailable twice in 3 days; Asik for 3 straight weeks. This on a team in which Hakeem did every interview for 17 years.

Not to mention he is averaging 5 turnovers a game. He is still an amazing player. 3rd best SG in the NBA, he is not. Its fair to say 95% of fans jumped the gun in that regard. Including myself.

Right. Good thing Kobe, or MJ, or LeBron, or Kareem, or any other player in the history of the NBA has never had a bad couple of games.

It's humorous that you straight up say "Harden can't" produce against good defenses. Let's wait a bit until we start throwing around matter-of-fact statements, and stop trying to reduce what Harden did on OKC because Brooks is stupid enough to play Jeff Green 38 minutes a night instead of Harden. You're pretty good at ignoring context though, I'll give you that.

While liloj usually just spits out gibberish and mindlessly supports OJ, he has a bit of a point here. Right now, statistically, Mayo has been better this year.

They've both been forced into first options when they're both probably best as second options. Mayo's efficiency has skyrocketed while Harden's has fallen off a cliff.

I still take Harden over Mayo by the end of the season though, Harden can't continue to be this bad, percentage wise, all season.

OJ Mayo's 'efficiency' is not sustainable. His 3pt% in particular, on the volume he's shooting them. Saying that Mayo has been statistically better than Harden this season is an empty statement because there is no question that Mayo's productivity is not going to be sustained.

No doubt. That's why I said Harden will be better by the end of season. His efficiency can't continue to be this bad while Mayo's can't continue to be this good.

"This bad" for Harden is a 57% TS%, so it's really not that bad. Anyway, Mayo is shooting 61% from three and Harden is shooting 27%, and those are not going to continue.

This thread is hilarious, all the overreactions a few pages back after 2 games against bad teams. Against good defenses he's been garbage and I'd expect that trend to continue next game against MIA. 2 of his 3 good games were against the worst team in the league too, and he wasn't even good last game, avg at best.

I'm not a Harden believer and I never was. These last 5 games by Harden have been quite evident that he is not an MVP caliber player or a superstar in this league.

Harden plays much worse against good defenses and good teams compared to mediocre and bad ones. This was always the case, even in OKC. It's not a big deal that he plays worse against bad defenses because just about every player does but it's a big deal that he literally gets shut down by them.

James Harden's playing style resembles Manu Ginobili but his situation resembles Joe Johnson.

His situation resembles Joe because like JJ he left for more money and to become the man. Joe was not considered to be worth the money and I don't think Harden will be worth it either. We won't know for sure until it all pans out but it is so far looking like he is not worth it.

I think Joe may have been better than what Harden currently is.

@WallaceNBA_ESPN

James Harden came into Heat's locker room after the game to greet LeBron at his stall for an embrace. Class move.

This is what's wrong with the NBA

Feel this thread needed bumped. Expect Harden to have a monster season with Dwight taking a lot of the pressure off and should def be able to shoot a much better percentage from the field with the spacing they should now have. MVP candidate? I think so. I predict he'll finish top 5 easily and Rockets will make their way into the Finals.

yeah hell have same stats...just more eficient... i mean tons of assists toward asik gone to waste because omer was not able to catch and dunk the most simple passes...then Harden wont be forced to iso now that he must defer to Howard hell be more fresh and less tired...HELL ALSO BE ABLE TO PLAY A BETTER DEFENSE...you said it well i expect MONSTER SEASON FOR HARDEN...
