Kings Trade for Rondo

Post#1 » by beb0p » Mon Jan 7, 2013 8:46 am

All this mention of Rondo gives me an idea - we should trade for Rondo. No, not with Cousins. We all know there's no way in hell the Kings trade Cousins for Rondo; but here's the thing, since we're just going with rumors and hearsay, why not goes with this one? It's a bit old and Ainge denied it, but heck who cares right? We all know when a GM denies a player is on the block that means the player IS on the block, right? Right?

The Boston Celtics are aggressively trying to trade Rajon Rondo, their fourth-leading scorer and one of the NBA's best point guards, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

The Celtics find Rondo's personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers remain an off-court distraction, sources told Broussard, and the front office is now actively pitching him to other teams. With the Celtics realizing they are no longer title contenders, they don't believe his point guard prowess is worth the headaches Rondo brings, sources say. And they do not want to build around him.

The Kings trade Salmons, Garcia, TRob, and IT for Rondo, Jeff Green, and Sullinger.

The Celts gets IT as replacement for Rondo, two mediocre vets (but one is expiring and the other one will expire next season), plus they get TRob - a hardworking emotional raw undersized no offense big man to pair with KG. I don't know why the Celtics would want TRob, but they do... because I said so. The Kings takes Green's bad contract off the Boston's hands and get Sullinger as a backup PF. The Kings may have to throw in Tyler Honeycutt to seal the deal. Why Honeycutt? I don't know exactly but there's always some young backup wing that gets tossed in as the person to seal the deal and that'd be Honeycutt. I have a lot of concern about paring two emotionally unstable players in Rondo and Cousins but when you get Rondo for such a laughable package you do it. Did I mention that IT is really, really underrated? A steal in the draft who will surely go top 5 if the draft is do over again. Yup, I have a lot of reservation about giving up IT but I guess he'll need to be included to entice Boston. The Celtics apparently really really like IT, I heard it from a friend of an aunt who lives in New Hampshire who travels to Boston occasionally.

Any trade for Rondo --not including cousins-- would have to include a draft pick and Tyreke I'd assume. Plus one of our PG's and a high salary like Salmons' to match Rondo's.

You are being reasonable... and that's not how trades work on this forum. It has to be extremely lopsided, ridiculously in favor of one team for it to work.

I see what your doing lol. But ya no way the Celtics make that trade. The best we could do is Tyreke (he can play pg for the Celtics), Thompson (they will want some size probably play JT at center), and either Brooks or Johnson whoever they prefer.

Tyreke/JT/Brooks for Rondo

Rondo/IT
Thornton/Jimmer/Garcia
Salmons/JJ/Honeycut
TRob/JJ
DMC/Hayes

Now that I look at it I really don't like it, I think we would be better off trying to put a package centered around Tyreke for Granger. I think it makes sense for both teams.

Celtics fan here and I do think the trade will be for Rondo. Rondo and Fab Melo and a 1st for Demarcus, Salmons and Isaiah Thomas. Works on trade Checker. Actually I hope a trade does not happen, but if it does something like this is the only thing that makes sense.

Thanks for noticing the sarcasm.

I say no to Granger. I'm concerned about his knee, some people recover from patella tendonitis, some don't. Some recovered and then had it again. The fact that they had to inject into his knee makes me think he has been having knee pain for a while now. Meaning it's not a given that it will heal.

If we traded Rondo, I would want Cousins and Evans. The OP's trade is TURRIBLE!

Return to Sacramento Kings
