yes, because you draft on draft night, not 5 years later...

So on draft night you didn't entertain the possibility that his shot was irreparable?

Entertained it sure, but you have to take gambles. there's only 2-3 guys a decade that come out perfect, you just gotta hope for the best

How come MKG is coming off the bench?

Hes 19 years old. His shot will get much, much better.

The only other player other than MKG I would have considered at #2 is Drummond, and no draft expert, site, or anything had him penciled in at 2. Lillard and Walker are almost the same with Walker actually being slightly younger so even if a re-draft happened right now we wouldn't take him.

Well said. MKG jumper is broken but he's got plenty of time.

I just don't want to hear anybody whinging about MKG not improving the way we already hear it about Biz 1.5 seasons in.

Both players are young enough for their flaws to be abided for a long time on a rebuilding team. If we were fighting for home court advantage in the playoffs good chance we would have passed on both players.

Scratched cornea or whatever, I didn't understand why MKG didn't start last night if he was capable of playing over 20 minutes.

Honestly I've never seen a blue chip prospect play so hard.

He looks like he's busting his a$$ for the minimum.

If MKG could develop a solid midrange, (and fix that broken stroke) he would be such a solid player. The problem is that he isn't a scorer and it kills the first team offense. Outside of Kemba there is no first squad scoring unless Hendo starts. We don't even need to get MKG thinking about the three ball, we just need to have him be able to make a wide open look, just to gain respect from the defense. That is what will open up the floor, leading to us scoring more points. The problem is right now, MKG gets the ball about 20 feet out, he thinks for a second and then passes it right back to Kemba and other teams know it. I love his defense, but we really need to get working in the off-season on his jump-shot, and lets's not forget the kid was drafted at 19, PLENTY of time to improve his NBA game.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

^ MKG is a scorer, but a work-in-progress. He's already putting up 11ppg, mostly on just finishing down low. He most certainly doesn't kill the team offense. The only thing that hurts us is his lack of range, he doesn't spread the floor enough, but he drives to the basket and finishes very well. The jumper will come. It may not happen this season, or even next season, but if Gerald Henderson can suddenly extend his range to the three-point line, why can't MKG. I'm more than confident he'll put the work in.

^ Yup, As a forty year old who played regularly up until my Achilles tear last summer told me to hang it up your jumper gets better and better the more you practice and shoot. Finishing in the paint over big guys that is what's hard. MKG is fantastic at scoring, so shooting is sure to come.
