A lil' bit from his twitter account:

@RGEEZY @PeterVecsey1 @welcum_2_zworld What's ur basis? He's from here. Best friend Josh as well as other boys Lou Will & A Morrow on Hawks.

Just like to point out the highlighted part to those who say Dwight "has made it clear he wants no part of ATL" that he hasn't.

And here's an answer to the Josh Smith trade rumors:
Jahrell Carroll ‏@JahrellC

@PeterVecsey1 Dwight won't leave Lakers because of the money they can give plus what happens to Josh Smith before deadline is a factor
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@JahrellC Pay attention Jahrell. Josh is not available
Details
13h Jahrell Carroll Jahrell Carroll ‏@JahrellC

@PeterVecsey1 I understand , they would want to use him to recruit Dwight to Atlanta.

@JahrellC Exactly

@PeterVecsey1 It will be interesting to see if he stays with the Lakers or go to Atlanta which is his best option as a free agent

And here is an interesting fact about SNTs - you CAN make them for max FA but you cannot SNT FAs for each other. LA could SNT Dwight to us for Horford (and any other non-FAs they wanted).
JUAN SAMUEL ‏@juan_samuel

@PeterVecsey1 Do you think a front line of JSmith and Howard, plus Teague at the 1 would be good enough to get to the conference finals?
Details
13h Bill Feinberg Bill Feinberg ‏@hoppysport

@PeterVecsey1 Why would the Hawks trade for Howard. He brings nothing to their hopes this season...and they get him for free as a FA.
Details
13h Eric Pincus Eric Pincus ‏@EricPincus

@PeterVecsey1 if they try to tell you Lakers can't S&T - they can sign and trade a player away - not take in - so consistent w/your tweet
Details
13h Biscuit Biscuit ‏@amntn

@PeterVecsey1 how much better does ATL get minus Horford and plus any Laker? Gotta be multi team deal.
Details
13h Eric Pincus Eric Pincus ‏@EricPincus

@PeterVecsey1 in other words can't S&T to get Josh Smith - but can send out Howard S&T for Horford - specific distinction
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@EricPincus Exactly! HUGE distinction I was unaware of until today. You're now my official unpaid interpreter.

@PeterVecsey1 Any time - I am well-versed in all things collective bargaining - and what I don't know i can get
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@amntn Hawks have unreal flexibility with 21.5M cap, excluding Josh, the only one who really matters
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@hoppysport Not this season. Summer move. Yes, they can get DH for free but AH makes 12M & plays 5. Would need $ to keep Josh at 4
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@juan_samuel I have no idea. But I absolutely love Teague. He & Lou, Josh, DH, with plenty left over to recruit/acquire
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@EricPincus How? I'm told there is no CBA booklet explaining all the rules. If true, how can that be? A year after agreement?
Details
13h Eric Pincus Eric Pincus ‏@EricPincus

@PeterVecsey1 I'm good friends with @LarryCoon - that helps
Details
13h Peter Novak Peter Novak ‏@Peter_J_Novak

@PeterVecsey1 @ericpincus really, no one has given you the new CBA or NBA booklet yet? I'm just a fan and even I have that.
Details
13h Peter Vecsey Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1

@Peter_J_Novak @EricPincus GM told me today there is no booklet, just guidelines

I also think this means teams with no cap like the Nets are in play, so long as they don't offer a FA.

All we have is one proven hack (Vecsey) disagreeing with another proven hack (Broussard). In one sense, I'm surprised that the universe hasn't imploded.

It appears that one of my fears is unfounded. The Nets cannot receive Howard in a SNT. Thanks to nykballa2k4 on the Trade Board (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1229702 ) for this:
nykballa2k4 wrote:http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/CBA-111128/how-new-nba-deal-compares-last-one
• 2011 CBA: Taxpaying teams have a smaller midlevel exception, can acquire less salary in trade, and cannot use the biannual exception. Starting in 2013-14, teams more than $4 million above the tax level cannot receive a player in a sign-and-trade transaction.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm
Starting in 2013-14, the team receiving the player cannot be above the "apron" ($4 million above the tax level) after the trade1, 2.

The language seems to indicate "team receiving the player in a sign and trade" can not be over the cap. This means, for example, the Nets could not sign and trade for Howard, but the Hawks are below the cap, Lakers actually CAN sign and trade Howard away to a team with significant cap space.

Howard won't extend anywhere, signing a contract with bird rights should lead to a larger contract, though the years are fewer. If Howard wanted the Hawks though, for example, he should demand the trade NOW because he can get more years (if the Hawks are willing to make him their 5 year player)

Wrong. We have a reporter's assertion that there is no source claiming Dwight Howard will not sign with us,
we have the fact (that I did not know and I'll bet YOU didn't, either) that you CAN SNT FAs but you cannot SNT 2 FAs for each other
and we have the fact that teams more than $4 million above the tax level cannot receive Howard in a SNT .

There's news here we didn't know.

Uhm no, we have one reporter asserting that he hasn't heard about it. When told that Broussard was the source he responds "well let's wait and see". Beyond that, it's a rather well known fact that Vecsey lost all credibility as a sports reporter with credible inside sources a decade ago. His word means nada especially when you are reading twitter timeline with numerous others correcting him.

2nd, you have to be kidding thinking I was unaware of that. If you search back far enough you can see numerous posts with me and MrHonline joking about people suggesting the "dreaded double sign and trade". It has always been essentially the most difficult task to accomplish that it bordered on the impossible.

3rd, I have pointed out numerous times myself about teams over the apron being unable to receive sign and traded players. I've mentioned this numerous times to people thinking Brooklyn was still a player in the Dwight sweepstakes and people thinking that if all else fails, Josh can just be sign and traded to whatever team he wants so there is no fear of not receiving anything in return for him.

All of this may be news to you which is fine but not to me or anyone with a hint of knowledge of the CBA. The fact that Vecsey was unaware as well further sinks whatever credibility he had left.

I'm tired of pissing matches with you - because that's all they ever are. However:

You're missing the point. The NEW rules say - not that a double SNT borders on the impossible - but is now ILLEGAL. Only one FA can be in the deal. Don't you get it? NOW, only ONE FA can be traded in a SNT. That means Howard can be signed-and-traded but not for a package including FAs. Try to keep up.

I still don't understand the point of this thread. It says nothing about dwight wanting to come to atlanta or nothing about dwight not wanting to come to atlanta. The whole point of this thread is useless. You have simply managed to copy conversation about nothing. Its like a Seinfeld episode.

An unpaid fan that knows more than a "professional" in Vecsey. Maybe you still think that it's 1998 and he's actually breaking a story.

The double sign and trade has always been impossible. The new rule is that any team above the apron cannot receive any player that has been sign and traded themselves. Dwight could never be sign and traded for another free agent period, ever. The new rule only stipulates that you can't even sign and trade Deshawn for a 2nd rounder from the Lakers but that is still entirely irrelevant to the Hawks and their pursuit of Howard so I don't know why you are acting as if it's a point of emphasis.

What is the last story that Vecsey broke? The man is no longer connected to any sources and hasn't been for a long time, in fact he's no longer even employed by the worst rag of a newspaper any longer. His reputation is based off the work that he did throughout the 80s and 90s but he's been no better than Broussard over the past decade plus.

I'm sorry for being unclear. Sometimes, I tend to ramble.

Point one is a response to those who say Howard "has made it clear he's not coming to ATL" - we have Vecsey's assertion that there is no source claiming Dwight Howard will not sign with us.

Point two is a response to those who are sure Josh Smith is gone.

Point three is you can SNT a FA but there can only be one FA in the deal. I had not heard that anywhere before.

Point four is that teams more than $4 million above the tax level cannot receive a FA in a SNT (or teams that are under the $4 million limit but would end up over that limit after the deal). That, also, was newsworthy.

I then drew conclusions from those pieces of information that are, of course, entirely my opinion but I hardly think it's useless.
