Scattered thoughts on the game since I wasn't here durign the game:
BS tweet from Bondy. Watson played terrible and Tyshawn played well. PJ was right to ride the hot hand.
Really ugly game but some things were encouraging. Brook was asked to do way too much and he still responded well. I don't think too many centers would be successful isolating against Hibbert that consistently. Wish we ran more pick and rolls and didn't give him the ball at the 3 pt line a couple times but he came through.
Gerald Wallace after calling out the team for the 18th time this season had a really good game. Hit a couple 3s. Looked like a leader on the floor. Defended pretty well. Rebounded. He actually got to the rim successfully a couple times. We get so bogged down on posting up Lopez, JJ and Deron but I wouldn't mind posting up Wallace occasionally. This is the type of game we need from him consistently. Not afraid to shoot. Really made a difference out there.
All I'll say about Reggie is this - his pick and roll defense was pretty good but sadly, this is the type of game that forces PJ to play him major minutes. Reggie's rebounding is wildly overrated. Chances are - Hump or Blatche grab those same defensive rebounds if they're on the floor. Pacers missed a ton, so he had a ton of rebounding opportunities. Brook lets him get them so he's going to get every uncontested board. The offensive rebounds are useful but they're a product of teams completely ignoring him on the offensive end. He's rarely properly boxed out because no one's guarding him.
Blatche is the only player I've seen get fatter as the season goes on. He did this in Washington too.
I still stand by the fact that we need to play Mirza at 4 a lot more. Crash too. We scored more than 20 a quarter once. We shot 38% from the field. That's not going to get it done. OFFENSE is the problem with this team. We stayed in this game because Indiana is terrible offensively. If we play any average offensive team tonight, we get blown out. We need to re-emphasize offense. We're doing ourselves no favors by playing Reggie Evans 43 minutes a game. 9 assists is not getting it done.
