The race card was kind of strange. I didn't sense any of that from people who were criticizing Rose yesterday and today. This board has a lot of divisions, and factions. But a racial divide, and tension is not one of them at least from what I have seen.

Rose deserves max. Deng and Boozer are overpaid. Noah, IMO, is fairly paid. Rip is a waste of 5 mil. If Boozer was around Noah in pay and Deng was at about 8mil a year, and Rip was on ESPN doing analysis, we'd have like 13 mil to throw at an all-star guard.

Anyone have an explanation for why Derrick would issue his statement if he was behind Reggie's statements? Why wouldn't he just tell Gar and Pax that, hey guys, try to prove my brother wrong. I'm not commenting on this to the media.

They are trying to make this go away, people would of demanded a response by rose, so they got out ahead of it with a simple boilerplate statement.

DuckIII, stop stating its obvious that the comments made by Reggie came from Derrick. Its not obvious at all, and you can't state it as fact no matter what arbitrary analogy you use. As I mentioned before, its very possible that Reggie has grown tired of Derrick doing the vast majority of work on this team, as an overprotective older brother and manager of his career, he spoke out against it. Neither you nor I know the true motives behind Reggie's comments. A number of explanations are possible.

Imagine that you have a "manager" and he makes a very public statement saying that, if your employer doesn't get its act together, you may stay "sick" for quite a while. Now imagine that you don't agree with your manager.

What do you do?

I think a reasonable budget for a team trying to win a title is 80 mil. That's 16 mil per position. We're slightly overpaying at PG, justifiably of course. Notably overpaying at PF, though we do have a stronger PF tandem than almost every team IMO. We're notably underpaying at C for great production. At SF, we're underpaying slightly for great production. At SG, we're underpaying by a lot, and getting expected poor production due to it.

There's a clear, if not easy to execute, solution. Try to spend more at SG with the TPE and/or MMLE (plus keep RIP for depth), or, try to turn one of Boozer, Taj, Deng, or Jimmy into a much better SG. That's the most straightforward way to greater Bulls title chances, considering 2014 cap space luck depends on the desires of other players.

No one can look at the chronology and think otherwise rationally.

I've edited both quoted posts, so if I'm altering both of your intent say so. But lets talk about this notion as Reg, rogue. Timeline:

Months before Rose's health and ability to return are knowable, Bucher reports that Rose's camp will hold out Rose, even if healthy enough to play, because the FO made moves or didn't make moves that bars title contention and that's all that matters to Rose. We laugh at and condemn Bucher for the report.

Bucher keeps reporting it.

Rose's teammates glow about how healthy and ready he is, many weeks ago.

Afterwards, Rose gives a planned interview to a national outlet, without the knowledge of the FO, that he might not play at all this season, and that he's totally okay with it if he doesn't.

This is weeks before the trade deadline.

Minutes after the trade deadline passes, Reg makes public statements entirely consistent with the Bucher reports and Derrick's own statements about not playing this year. Threatening that Rose might sit out the season because the team isn't good enough.

And despite this, the notion that Rose isn't on board and involved with how this played out is poorly supported. Explain that. Explain why that chronology invalidates this supposition or undercuts the rationale.

No part of your chronology is evidence of what Derrick Rose thinks about the roster and its lack of talent. At no point did Rose in the USA today interview indicate that he would sit out the season due to the ineptitude of the front office. That's what Reggie Rose thinks. Reggie has a different perspective than Derrick. As Sam Smith said, Rose is the same guy who was dying to get on the court with guys like Tyrus Thomas and Lindsey Hunter.

The Bulls have not reverted back to their 2009 team. If anything, they reverted back to their 2010 (unless Boozer gets amnestied).

If the Bulls do amnesty Boozer (and we assume Rip is let go) this summer (also assuming we don't win it all), what it means is that the Bulls took their shot with Rip and Boozer, but an ACL injury and bad luck ate up those two seasons...time to re-load.
