Im worried he could become a Biyombo type, where he is good defensively, but cant carve out a roster spot because he is a huge liability on offence. He doesnt have the physical strength that a guy like Dwight had to get away with a lack of offensive moves.
Biyombo is tiny though, the guy is like in the 6-8 to 6-9 range. He hasnt provided nearly any of the defensive presence that was expected, thats likely because he isnt big enough to bother too many players outside of his defensive range.
Noel offensively (skillset) is more comparable to Chandler
Noel defensively is closest to Marcus Camby.
Im not concerned with him scoring or offensive post moves, all i expect from him on that end it a Tyson Chandler type game, lobs, putback dunks, offensive rebounding etc, oportunistic scoring.
That is not what you would be drafting a guy like him for,and that is not what he is good at, You take him on the premise of him completely changing the game for us defensively. The same way Dwight was able to change the game on D almost singlehandedly. Noel is THAT type of player on the defensive side of the ball.
Noel helps you play guys like Nicholson and Harris for longer stretches of the game (at PF) since he can cover any mistakes. He also helps Vucevic tremendously down low.
