It's still got the stutter but its not awful. Some throwing glitches same as last year, if you use the analog instead of the new button controls.

Think my most frustrating thing that I've seen all though not experienced. When I first got the game I simulated 2 years in franchise, I wanted to check out the new prospect scouting system (which is absolutely fantastic, you can draft some great players and really rebuild the future of a franchise if you have high picks), but if you have a player who is old. Lets say the likes of RA Dickey, his abilities are constantly dropping over the course of the season and by the end of the 2 seasons he was rated in the low 70's. How realistic is that when he dominated in the 2013 simmed season? Its possible, everyone bottoms out eventually, but that usually doesn't happen to knuckleballers quite so drastically unless they forget how to throw the KB which in a video game isn't all that possible.

The reverse effect is also true. Players get too good to quickly, some gaining 5-6 overall in one season, they said they would do this so you can luck into a franchise player (which is cool) but too many players are doing it.
In the one season - Johnson became 99, Morrow 95, Lawrie 88. That's a significant improvement for all of them in one year.

Other players that happened to that I remembered was pretty much the whole yankee's team became awful!

Trading is still slightly flawed. The trade update made it so that certain teams look for certain types of players which means if you feel like it you can exploit them.

I traded for MTrout and MTrumbo and it cost me JBau ALind MIzturis. Not a trade that would happen in real life unless its half way during the season and Trout had bottomed out. Then MTrumbo who is on a decent Arbitration contract I traded to Oakland for YCespedes and JReddick. That set my outfield up.

The Reds were happy to trade JCueto (last year of Arb) for a controllable pitcher and 2 rookies.
I swung JCueto and a rookie to the giants for TLincecum and PSandoval.

Signed MBourn and traded him to the Nat's for BHarper.

So using exploits on teams likes and dislikes I ended up with a line up like this:

Reyes
Bonaficio (severely overrated)
Trout
Harper
Sandoval
Cespedes
Reddick
Lawrie
Arencibia

Dickey
JJohnson
Lincecum
Morrow
Shelby Miller

I also have about 7-8 of the top 50 prospects in the minors.

How realistic are all those trades. Not really but its the way the trade engine works. Major upgrade over last year, where you could get any player you wanted for scraps no problem.

for the TLDR version: I love baseball. Still my favourite video game since 06. Glitches are still in it. Rarely happen but frustrating at times. Still stutters. Flaws in the trading system are still there but you choose how those affect you. Buy the game over last years if you want significant improvements in mode specific engines.

any questions just ask.

So it seems like there were significant changes compared with last year, looks like I'll be heading over to EB games tomorrow after work!

This game desperately needs a patch when it comes to player development. Old guys drop off the face of the earth in a month, while rookies become superstars.

Trade exploits are pretty bad I have a team consisting of Harper, Profar, Heyward, Stanton, Montero, Rizzo, Machado and Trumbo with the Mets.

Rotation not too shabby either, Strasburg, Chapman, Harvey, Bundy and McDonald

Yankees practically will trade anyone for little or no value.

In my first season (I was the Astros) Jose lead the league in home runs and won MVP. Morrow was second in the cy young race. The rays beat the jays in the one game playoff. Angels won the world series.

Surprisingly Vernon wells was traded to the yanks (not sure for who) but ended up winning a glove.

Another funny thing was the rookie of the year was won by a 32 year old and subsequently retired that off season due to lack of ability.

Is this really considered the best baseball game? Is the 2k series really that bad?

Slider's are definitely out of whack, but that's kinda the way the game always starts. SCEA is great with patching stuff. They have a full bug report setup and they get on top of things quick.

I'd heartily recommend checking out the forums over at operationsports, the guys there are great at posting good sliders and great rosters.

Everything takes a few weeks though.

And in terms of MLB 2K. Its awful. One of the worst game in the world. There have been times where I had to choose between playing 2K and MVP 05 and I chose MVP.

Hilarious, but entirely possible, injuries can ruin careers.

You can turn off injuries if you like, or set them to manual.

I give it a week or two before the regression and progression bug is fixed (players dropping too quick and becoming too good to quick) and then after that the game is well on its way to being amazing.

Does anyone know if the newest edition fixes the outfield so that it's properly proportionate to the infield? In the version I have the outfield is too small - outfielders never miss a ball hit into the gap unless it's a line-drive, and balls hit off the wall are more than likely outs if I try to go to second. If the outfield was simply a little bigger than it'd solve both issues I think. Anyone else notice this? (I have The Show 11)

Haven't noticed that. I noticed I hardly hit it in the gaps but that's probably just me.

^ it's not just the gaps, it's extremely difficult to ever get a bloop single. I think I've had one in a hundred games or something - the outfielders just don't have to cover all that much ground so they get to almost everything. Many aspects of the game are awesome, I just find that the outfield seems disproportionate. Was wondering if it's the same in the newer versions.

I've played a few thousand games of 2K 11 and 12, not bad games by any means. Having not played the other series I'm guessing that most agree I play the weaker of the two series.

Doesn't mean 2K sucks though, you can a lot of quality gameplay out of it.

Alright so after playing it for a week or so, here are my thoughts:

Generally in RttS mode, the management AI is still a bit similar compared with last years, with random trades which hardly improve's the team's future or current situations, that's a bit disappointing.

Nothing's changed too much from a development standpoint, except how pitch-guessing is slightly more complicated and base-running is weird sometimes when I want to slide but he just walks into second-base and gets tagged out (wtf?, while I do notice that the outfield seems a bit undersized and disproportionate, resulting in quicker/shorter throws.

I'm guessing the players' massive declines when they age is so that young guys can get promoted and up through the ranks sooner, as I remember last year this 23-year old stud prospect was blocked in the minors until he was like 30 because of a stacked team.

Ratings-wise, I feel that the Jays team is very fair, but it does not seem overly representative of when they actually play, as a 77 OVR Adam Lind batted .280 and had 30 homers and 100 RBI while a 80 OVR Rasmus (in 2014) batted almost the same stats as Lind :o

For some unknown reason, pitchers this version seem to take a massive beating, and runs scored (even in simulated games) are high, even with adjusted sliders and whatnot, I may have to download some custom-made ones.

I guess I was expecting a bit more but otherwise this game is still pretty decent and addictive.

I just got the game this weekend. Started RTTS as a Pitcher.

MY pitching arsenal is:

KnuckleBall
Curved Knuckleball
Screw Ball
Fork Ball
Sinker

Its fun to use these "trick" pitches. I'm averaging around 10-12 strikeouts a game with these. I also have 2 complete game shutouts so far.
