It seems that even with a poor shooting team it makes sense to do things in a way that is proven to be more efficient. I'd rather see our boys shooting 4-5 threes a game each than 4-5 long twos. I cannot imagine all our shooters are statistically proven to be better scorers off long twos than 3pt shots. Definitely not all of them at least.

we don't need to do the elevator screen. but we need properly-executed plays.

you have two VERY mobile and athletic players starting at the 4 and 5. you have two athletic players at the 2 and 3. movement - and lots of it - should be the key to running this offense. and in-shape Gay and Lowry are a must.

Agreed 100% and to DG88's points as well.

It seems more and more every day Casey is setting them up for failure.

wtf you gonna do?

I wish we had Triano back with this team. Casey has so much more to work with and just **** the bed with it.

Yep, that's the same play for sure (Barbosa 3) good memory, good eye man! Tim Lincecum was on the mound against the Thunder that game... HAH! 8-)

Imagine if only Dwayne Casey left Dallas to become the Raptors defensive specialist along side Triano? Obviously would never happen that way in a sports world full of big egos.

LOL at Derozan's play. That's not a play.

We need a coach that can properly assess this team's strengths and construct plays tailored for them for easy buckets. But no... we run ISO's and small ball and throw alley oops to demar and gay. And rely on Alan Anderson to take over when nothing's going right.

i don't think the point is to emulate the exact same offense as the warriors. it's about being able to maximize your strengths as a team. for the warriors it's 3 point shooting and so they run plays to get their shooters open looks. casey just has no clue what he's doing. it seems the explanation is, the focus is on defense because defense wins championships, so the offence is sacrificed to focus on defense. but that's such a copout. your job as a coach is to construct a winning team, using the assets you have. which means you have to be good at defense BUT you ALSO have to be able to run plays that get you baskets. if as a coach you can't manage to do both, you suck. period. no excuses really. one should not have to be sacrificed to be good at the other. and the stupidest part is, the raps STILL suck defensively. casey needs to go. it's one thing if your team just isn't executing and it's another if they're not playing with any sort of structure. case in point that one "double screen" set by amir and jonas. yeah it was the beginning of the game, yeah, it was hilarious, but it got derozan WIDE OPEN and instead he gets the ball, dribbles it for a bit and WAITS for his man to come to him... what a useless use of a perfectly good screen. no structure, no purpose, suckiness.

Guys stop it, this is sad.. it's just more proof that Casey has NO idea how to maximize our offense..

props to Marc Jackson if he came up with this..

What are you talking about? Our team strength is isolation/post up, and we try to run them most of the time. We are already utilizing our wings on offense. Not sure why people are blaming Casey, I don't see we can do any better with our wings and bigs not demanding full man coverage.

What's wrong that style is that both DeMar and Gay don't create shots for others in face up isolation plays. Usually they either put up a contested shot or turn the ball over. For a team like ours with the athletes and finishers we need to play uptempo, make cuts to the basket, ball movement and hitting the offensive boards. It's one of the reasons why I'd rather Lowry push the pace and take command of the offense instead of just feeding the ball to DeRozan or Gay for long contested twos. If we go isolation in a halfcourt setting it should mainly be post ups for DeRozan, Gay and Jonas.

If the big man was Amir, then yes because he never sets a screen while planted. Otherwise, David Lee and Carl Landry are typically settled before they make contact with the defender.

This is a great set play, but one the Raptors could never run. Our coaching staff doesn't teach how to set proper screens (haven't since the Bosh era started) and we also don't have reliable shooters. It takes Curry and Thompson less than a second to get off a shot. DeMar takes a lifetime to gather for a jumper.

not being set while planted is actually a result of us having so many unexperienced / bad offensive players. you're supposed to wait for the screen to be set before going. we have a bunch of guys who don't know how to use screens. even jose was always been really bad at coming off screens tightly or forcing a switch from it. lowrys nearly as bad but he's a lot quicker so his lack of fundamentals arent highlighted as much.
