I laughed at the 99.9% percent part.

Education is **** in America at all levels.

yeah i've heard its quite the process to even get a visa to come over here and study, and then they have to keep up fairly high grades to maintain their scholarships (or whatever funding source they have) to stay

a quick wiki search- In the 2013 issue of U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges," the University of Miami was ranked 44th among national universities, the highest ranked in Florida.[135]

i don't want to belittle your accomplishments at all (its great, i only had one major) but it seems that those majors (and it would be nice for some input by others here) aren't taken very seriously (at least in the us) from what i've encountered (in terms of job prospects type things)

maybe not as bad as philosophy, or history but there you go

i apologize if i offend anyone for my possible ignorance

you're 100% correct. I'd reckon a lot of classes coincide too. Most kids I know in those programs or similar programs will be the first to admit the programs are borderline jokes.

Those majors were a lot of those 99%er protestors. Although I'm sure there is a serious financial upside with experience and an MBA with those degrees. The key word is experience though. Science/technical degrees actually learn necessary background stuff (biology, math, coding, etc) in college. Liberal arts party for 4 years then learn on the job.

Yes liberal arts degrees frustrate me.

I don't know the number now, but I wrote a term paper on the legitimacy of Wiki in high school and most mistakes are corrected in under a few minutes. Also, especially with science articles, I always just click the reference links and use Wiki as an index of sorts.

 Nice one.

When I don't learn anything in my lectures, I just read the textbook and study the lectures online.
I usually get more done this way.

Glad you got the joke... I deleted it because it seemed like more of an in person kind of thing. I was afraid it wouldn't go well. 8-)

If that was to happen, the university would just accommodate additional classes to cover the student base.

So what you have or haven't heard is fact? So you're willing to state categorically that no student has ever lost out to Foreign Applicant for a slot he was qualified for? When I was accepted to UCSB, I was one of 500 applicants accepted... Do you think out of the thousands of applicants for those same spots, not one of them lost out to someone from over-seas. Hell, over half of my room-mates in the dorms weren't US Nationals.

Don't take this personally.
I'm not attacking foreign students, I'm ridiculing the American Higher Education system.
And the acceptance practices I mentioned, happened.

not really, in fact many people that start off as poli sci majors most often switch to law at some point (like me). its a pretty smooth transition in fact.

as a stand alone degree though its nothing special.

How is 10% too high Kilroy? Then why do people turn around and say we love the diversity in the American education system?

because there are negative ramifications to people who say they hate diversity :dontknow:

Even Lawyers don't make much either. Unless you work for big evil corps.

well i mean anyone can switch majors at any time, it just depends what classes you need to take to do so.
