I don't think Lee is worth it, as Nenes decline seems to be clearly due to injury, which explanations of a lockout year/fast paced schedule and still playing in the olympics as the reasoning, there's still at least a good chance that he could return to form, which would put him a couple of tiers above Lee at least.
I'd rather have just gotten Smoove if I was thinking about Lee. You at least get strong defense and rebounds for sure there, the extra millions being worth the health and guaranteed production in two areas where we need it most.
I don't want to touch Josh Smith given the fat, long term contract that is going to be attached to him.
I think I would trade Nene for David Lee though. Lee is a much better pick-and-pop threat and would significantly improve the spacing of our offense. He's also a year younger and has proven to be much more durable. He has missed an average of 4 games a year over the past 6 years.
The main drawback of Lee is that he doesn't really have the ability to play center without severely detracting from the defense. Trading for Lee would make a lot more sense if we ended up drafting a guy like Dieng or Adams to handle backup C minutes when Okafor sits.
Nene for Lee might work, but a better option would be to acquire a quality stretch four like Ilyasova or Anderson and run with a 3-big rotation of Anderson, Okafor and Nene off the bench.
