Did you know Amare had 3 fouls and a technical in 4 minutes? Can someone please tell me wtf he was doing?

um...defense. at least, i think that's what he thought.

woody didn't understand either

Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 2h

Woodson sounded a bit upset abt Stoudemire's 3 fouls (& a technical) in 4 minutes during 2Q. Called them "unnecessary" & "ridiculous."

He wouldn't care if he's picking up fouls because he knows he's only playing 10 minutes. If he knew he was playing bugger minutes he'd be more careful. In saying that he's not gonna play 30 minutes.

We played like this when we were losing all those games then we started to shoot well and won a bunch. All we need is 1 game to get out of the shooting funk and I think we take the series.

I think we can win which is why I have asked how many teams down 3-1 have had home court advantage. I venture to guess that overwhelmingly terrible stat comes down significantly if you use the scenario we are in.

Now is the perfect time for Melo to get rid of his "playoff loser" image and go HAM and win three straight games.

I don't think math works that way.

To answer your question though - of the 8 teams in the History of the NBA who have overcome a 3-1 deficit, 7 of them had HCA.

Coach has to play guys that can score and create. Knicks offense is anemic. Pacers offense hasn't been beating us. It's their D and the lack of our O. Our rotation should be:
Chandler
Melo
Shumpert
Felton
Prigs
K-Mart
Amare
Novak/Copeland
J.R.

Roll them out. Let them play. Show some heart. Show some swag. Believe!
Strength does not comes from physical capacity, it comes from an indomitable will.

I don't know why people had a problem with this... It's not like the fouls were going to limit the amount of minutes he was going to play... was it? ****, if I was him, I'd make sure to use at least 5 of the six fouls in those limited minutes. As long as the opposition doesn't and-1 him, I don't mind. He actually showed fire and passion.

Please exit stage left

I don't expect the Knicks to lose game 5 in front of their home crowd, but then again, the way they've been playing you never know.

Go Knicks.
The Knicks are back.

I know the Heat in 97 had HC for the last three games.

but the ONLY reason they won was because of the PJ Brown thing that made me hate that godforsaken franchise forever. If half the team didnt get suspended for Game 6, Miami would have been toast.

Per wiki 6 of the 8 teams that came back to win down 3-1 HAD home court advantage. The other state we should want to know is, of the teams that lost down 1-3, how many of those teams had home court advantage. It just seems obvious that the vast majority of those that failed to come back did not have home court advantage.

We lost by a margin of 11 points. I understand every point is precious, but c'mon... We need that fire to be lit from underneath the other players. If we have issues with Amare there, then I guess we should have the same with KMart?

IMO, the fouls JR was trying to pull with the flop dance was more detrimental than Amares. At least most, if not all those fouls were committed on the defensive end.

Yes math does work that way. The sample currently being used is all teams down 3-1, irrespective of whether they had home court advantage. It's likely this sample constitutes an overwhelming number of situations where the team that was down 3-1 did NOT have home court advantage. If we remove those from the total sample, I guarantee the percentage of teams that game back is much higher.

The fact that the majority of the teams that came back after being down 3-1 had HCA does not mean that our odds are good. It just means that the odds of coming back when you don't have HCA are even worse -- since it has only happened twice in NBA history.

The majority of teams that fall behind 3-1 in a series, lose the series. I'm sure that of all the teams that have ever fallen behind 3-1, a greater portion did not have HCA. But that doesn't mean that there aren't tons of examples of teams falling down 3-1 and losing the series, even though they had HCA. I can think of one right off the top of my head -- the '95 Knicks had HCA, went down 3-1, tied it up at 3-3, and then lost at home in game 7.

EDIT: Just looking back at the past two years, there have been 5 occasions where a team with HCA fell down 3-1 and lost the series: LAC over MEM, PHI over CHI, and BOS over ATL in 2012; ATL over ORL and MEM over SAS in 2011.

Its gonna be tough watching this game.

If we win I'll feel better, but watching throughout the game is definitely gonna be tough.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Cope and Prigs need to play more. Heck even Novak should be out there for a bit.
