Last I checked Detroit had a few car companies of their own

Good call because those are the only endorsement deals available to basketball players.

Well you said Griffin wouldn't be in all those KIA commercials if played in Detroit, which might be true, but he'd probably be in commercials for much bigger car companies instead. :D

Really did you see the word KIA anywhere in my post? Now you're just reaching Flip. Griffin has done way more commericals than just with KIA, Flip.

I'm pretty sure the majority of Griffin's commercials, as well as the most well known, are for KIA. Which commercials were you referring to then if not KIA? lol

Hes done commercials for Subway, Vizio, and a video game commercial where dunks over a tiger. All that on top of his Kia commercials, and I'm sure he has a big shoe deal with Jordan now.

The majority of his commercials are for KIA, so I assumed that's what you were referring to. Regardless, you might want to take a look at what Suh has been doing endorsement-wise, as he has arguably more endorsements than Griffin and he plays in Detroit. So the whole logic that athletes can't get endorsements in Detroit is just a myth.

Its not the city, its the athlete. If you have a larger than life star athlete, the endorsements will go wherever the athlete goes.

Good call since Suh made $600,000 in endorsements last year while Griffin made a measly $7 million or so in endorsements.

Dyess was definitely a great signing. But, he was also a low profile signing, because the league had pretty much believed his career was long over and Detroit took a shot on him.

Webber was the "biggest name" signing, that's all. He didn't provide much to the team.

Is Dallas considered a big market? It's Cowboys country up there, the Mavs are a distant second or third in Dallas.

Yeah, they're the 5th largest market in the country.

Another things teams in Florida, and Texas have going for them is there is no state income tax.

That proves nothing about location. All it means it Griffin is a better player than Suh thus can command more money from endorsements. Kevin Durant makes 13 mil in endorsements playing in OKC. Do you think Oklahoma is a bigger market than LA? No, its because Durant is a better player than Griffin.

All you have to do is look back at how much money LeBron made in endorsements playing in Cleveland to realize this whole argument is ridiculous.

Stars can make big money in endorsements in any city.

Yes. Lol. He is more marketable than Suh though. I doubt Suh gets that much more endorsements as a Redskin. He just isn't as likeable around the league as Griffin.

Lebron, and Durant are once in a decade kind of talent that will get big money endorsements no matter where they are but look what eventually happened with Lebron. Nike won't give Chris Paul a $200 million shoe deal to come to Detroit like they would Howard to go to Brooklyn.

You can try to spin thing any which way you want, Paul isn't coming here.

Sure. Griffin is a highlight reel player. But, the Grizzlies destroyed him in the playoffs. He couldn't defend to save his life, and Z-Bo out hustled him. Then the reports started flooding out that he isn't interested in improving, and immature.

I guess I'm thinking biggest impact.
