Hopefully there isnt too many people that think like you otherwise we will have the "weakest" team name in all of basketball.
A Husky could totally take a Pellican.

"Raptors" is a cartoonish joke and I am so tired of Toronto's NBA franchise being/being associated with a cartoonish joke.
And I have to say, it frustrates me to no end that people are actually defending keeping the "Raptor" name. Seriously, I thought this would be a no-brainer.
The US Airforce named the F22 Advanced Tactical Fighter the "Raptor" and I have never heard anyone complain about its name or that it sounds too cartoonish.

I'll stick with Raptors for some originality.

Raptor also means Bird of Prey. But I do not think anyone raised the F22 Advanced Tactical Fighter or Birds of Prey when the team name was being considered. Jurassic Park was front and centre. For goodness sake, one of the other team names up for consideration was "T-Rex". That movie was everywhere at that time.
It's the context that is the issue. You can't pretend they always meant figher jet.

Just be glad we aren't the Magic, Jazz, Bobcats, Clippers(?), or Pelicans for that matter.
Let's go Raptors!!!
Geddy wrote:I bet if the name does get changed then in 15-20 years time another group of fans will want the Raptors name back and wonder why we ever changed.
When the Jays changed their look in the late 90s and 2000s some people thought it would be a nice, modern change from the old look. We all know how that turned out and how everyone fell back in love with the classic Jays logo.
If people don't like dinosaurs then they might as well go with the birds of prey angle. That way they keep the name but just do a logo change. Plus there are more birds of prey in this city than huskies.
