I feel like I'd like to get another asset back, but I wouldn't hate that deal. Trading back to 8, we should still get a big white guy (Zeller, Len, or Adams; not an Olynyk fan) to strengthen the frontcourt.
At first I didn't like it since in two years the pick is only top 1 protected...but even if they draft only half decently I think they make a playoff push in the weak east in two years. 2014 looks like a special draft, having two (virtually) guaranteed picks for next season - and good odds that they'd both be in the lottery - would be huge.
My only pause is that we'd be hoping they'd do worse then this year (8th in draft order this year, top-8 protection next year) but in effect be helping them get a better player for next season. Honestly the deal makes perfect sense for the Pistons because you'd assume they'd be planning to convey the pick next year anyway (I mean, they'd only have to improve by one spot), so they'd essentially have nothing to lose in the deal, while gaining a top 5 prospect.
That's kinda why I'd like another asset, but I'm not sure who I'd want...maybe they'd take Gordon back
