I'm ok with it...but I think the pistons will be better than top8

That's what I proposed and yeah, I think it's a good idea.

Detroit is too young and will not be that good next year. New coach, probably a bad one like Cheeks who'll misuse bigs as usual, it's a gamble I'd take. I think maximizing our assets in the 2014 draft is the way to go.

I feel like I'd like to get another asset back, but I wouldn't hate that deal. Trading back to 8, we should still get a big white guy (Zeller, Len, or Adams; not an Olynyk fan) to strengthen the frontcourt.

At first I didn't like it since in two years the pick is only top 1 protected...but even if they draft only half decently I think they make a playoff push in the weak east in two years. 2014 looks like a special draft, having two (virtually) guaranteed picks for next season - and good odds that they'd both be in the lottery - would be huge.

My only pause is that we'd be hoping they'd do worse then this year (8th in draft order this year, top-8 protection next year) but in effect be helping them get a better player for next season. Honestly the deal makes perfect sense for the Pistons because you'd assume they'd be planning to convey the pick next year anyway (I mean, they'd only have to improve by one spot), so they'd essentially have nothing to lose in the deal, while gaining a top 5 prospect.

That's kinda why I'd like another asset, but I'm not sure who I'd want...maybe they'd take Gordon back

meh, nevermind. he only has one year left on contract. would be pointless for what we would have to give up.

I'm not a fan of the Chris Bosh for the #4 pick like most of us but I imagine we could 'help' Miami out if they want to execute a trade involving him.

Something along the lines of.

Miami trade: Chris Bosh+Miami 2014 first

Miami receive: S&T Josh Smith

Atlanta Trade: S&T Josh Smith+Al Horford

Atlanta Receive: Chris Bosh+2013 #4+Miami 2014 first+Ramon Sessions+Brendan Haywood

Charlotte trades: #4+Ramon Sessions+Brendan Haywood

Charlotte receives: Al Horford

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

MIAMI

Chalmers/Wade/Lebron/Smith/Haslem

ATLANTA

Teague/Williams/Iguodala(?)/Bosh/Haywood

CHARLOTTE

Kemba/Henderson/Gilchrist/Horford/Biyombo

I think Miami would love this, Atlanta would not want to trade Horford but in this they get great value for Smith instead of letting him walk instead, they rebuild with a lot of assets around Bosh.

Charlotte trades for our PF to build around, Horford gets his wish to not play C and he compliments Biyombo perfectly.

I just don't see Atlanta doing this, but I love it for us. Horford is roughly equal to Bosh at a lower price. I'd give the Portland pick and Taylor to Atlanta if that's what it takes.

I was thinking we could add the Portland pick and give it to Atlanta and we receive the Miami 2014 pick.

The reasoning is that Josh Smith will most likely walk for nothing, Miami wants to trade Bosh (reportedly) and they wouldn't do it for anything less than his value.

This trade basically breaks down to Horford for Bosh+Sessions+Haywood+2013 #4+a first

This is just us "helping them out"

I like it.

Atlanta is set to be at around 20 million in salaries when free agency starts next month. They have no reason to give up any assets to upgrade. Josh is the dummy if he leaves, because Atlanta can afford to sign him and two more max contracts this summer without giving up their best player Big Al.

No they can't. They can only afford two max free agents if they renounce Josh Smith. But they'd also have to renounce Teague, Korver, Pachulia, Harris, Stevenson, and all their scrubs to do it. They might even need to trade one of their picks, or Lou Williams. They all have cap holds. Dwight/Horford/Paul or Dwight/Smith/Paul could happen, but it's very unlikely.

Revised Pistons deal:

#8
(remove the protection from our pick owed next season)
SF Kyle SIngler

for

#4
C Haywood

We take on some long-term salary, you get another young asset in Singler.

Fair enough deal. But still not sure I do it.

Long term salary?

Haywood is only owed a million more a season over the next two seasons compared with Singler - and they both only have 2 years left on their deals.

That aint worth dropping back 4 spots.

Just curious, is it fine for you guys to give up 4th pick, for 9th pick, Derrick Williams, unloading both Tyrus Thomas and Gordon's contracts, amd receiving Ridnour's expiring contract?

How that numbers work?

And no, we don't want Williams.(some do, but as a whole, this board is bit tired by plethora of offers including Williams).
