yep

and even if BKN is better for next 1-2 years, melo has that opt out clause and if NY doesnt improve, he'll go somewhere else to win

That about sums it up.

We have the whole offseason to make a trade to improve the team and I hope we do that. I don't mean signing some D-League guys and Will Bynum. These small moves aren't putting us over the hump.

what trade do you like? the one for lee?

i agree small signings might not be enough, but they are important for depth purposes

And if that's the case, we have cap room to work with.

I don't know, but I guess I'm completely numb to the Nets and pretty much every other team's moves. This has to be the first season where I am neither happy or upset about basketball.

Why is everyone afraid of the Nets again? The Celtics were barely above .500 in a garbage East without Rondo. Pierce is washed up, Garnett doesn't have much left either

Lopez/Plumlee
KG/Blatche
Pierce/Toko
JJ/Brooks
D-Will/?-FA

Got to admit that's pretty good. Old, but good.

So shortishgted.

The Nets just guaranteed they'll be worse than the Knicks from 2014-2018. Who the hell cares if they win 50 games and lose in the second round in 2013?

The Knicks have bigger issues than a cross-town rivalry for who can be the better fake contender.

Nets are better. Like I said Garnett/Pierce are old but when you put them with an already good team/supporting cast, that team is going to overall be better.
They'll add toughness too.

What? When was this post even made? There was no evidence as of the initial report as wojs link said it was exploratory from brooklyns side and quickly escalated from there.

It was made when Wojkowski posted on twitter that the teams were in talks. I read all the Twitter posts, I don't think there was any implication that it was one-sided.

So you waited until now to quote that post? Got it.

Seems like the most appropriate time to me.

Not to give credit to Miami, but the Heat can still beat that Nets team in 5, 6 if needed.

Then KG retires, PP loses his game, DWill cries, JJ chucks, Lopez gets another foot surgey and then the nets go down. With no picks, and being strapped with huge contracts, they have no way to get better.

Props to Danny ainge for killing the Nets.

Feel bad for Nets fans, having to root for KG must suck.

I don't think they'll feel too bad when they're in the Eastern Conference Finals with Miami.

The Nets are going to be a 65 win team next season and win the NBA championship. Who is going to stop their super team? Miami will be lucky to even win one game against them in the playoffs.

Tell me, why exactly do you think the additions of declining KG and declining PP vault them from losing in the first round to a home bulls team over us, a healthy bulls team with derrick rose that will be going for it, and an improved pacers team?

People seem to overlook the fact that Paul Pierce is still one of the most clutch players in basketball and KG makes any team he goes to 5 times better.

Because 'declining' KG and Pierce are still 2 very good players who no longer have to be superstars but rather help the team in a supporting role. The Nets starting 5 is not only very good, but also very balanced offensively and defensively.

Great analysis.
