C'mon now, that is ridiculous hommerism right there. Prime Nick Young ( 17ppg) is a lot more realistic.

Definitely not T-Mac, but I think he's floor is higher than Nick Young. Nick young is nothing more than a 3pt shooter. KCP is already more than that.

Based on what? Nick Young was 6'7 had a 40+ inch vert and shot 52% from the field and 44% from 3 coming out of college. He would have been a top 3-5 pick in this draft imo. Nick just fell off after he left Washington, he couldn't find a good fit.

Over 50% of KCPs shots were 3pts, over 7 per game. To say he's already more than Nick Young sounds really biased imo.

KCP is already a really good defender. Nick Young has never defended a day in his life. That's why he's already more of a player than Nick Young.

Nick Young coasts. KCP does not. Nick Young had all star potential. If you're saying kcp has the same ceiling as young did coming out of usc, then yes I agree. But kcp can be better than what Nick Young has been.

Let me tell you why KCP is already every bit as good as Nick Young.

1. KCP plays defense. Good defense.
2. KCP rebounds the ball. 7rpg. Nick Young's career best rpg? 2.7
3. KCP has a better bball iq. Nick Young has a JR smith type mental make up, who did not really buckle down and start being consistent until last year.

Nick Young at this point in his career is a solid sparkplug off the bench and a three point shooter. He put up 17ppg one season, on a bad team. Since then he hasn't done very much.

KCP's ceiling is JRich. Don't sleep on KCP...he had tremendous improvement from year 1 to year 2. Went from 13 to 18 ppg while basically only taking just over 1 more shot per game.

KCP seems to have Rip's frame and physical attributes. I'm not sure why it's such a stretch that he could have a similar impact on the game to RIp. He has a bit more range coming out of college. Don't know if he has the same body control coming off screens to stop and pop the way Rip did.

I don't feel the J Rich comparisons because Richardson was more explosive at the rim, was more physical, and wasn't known to be as good a shooter out of college. Just different styles.

KCP upside seems to be more in the Rip/Reggie Miller/Ray Allen mold. Don't know that he'll be as efficient as those guys but he should be studying their game tapes.

...and if Nick Young defended, rebounded, had basketball IQ, and worked hard every night, he'd be an All Star and could start for a contender. The fact he's not any of those other things is why it's not a compliment to use him as a benchmark.

Fluidity/ Movement reminds me a lot of Rip. KCP seems to have more range and shoot better off the dribble. RIp is probably a bit better coming off screens though KCP is no slouch in that department. Both are great in transition due to their open court speed.

How does he compare to Richard Jefferson?

I think he has a fringe all-star cieling as 17.5 per game scorer while grabbing 6 boards and playing above average defense. Floor is a great three point shooting backup 2 guard. I cannot think of a good comparison as far as his style. Tim Hardaway Jr is the only player I can think of that plays very similar. However KCP is a more consistent shooter and defender and brings it every game unlike Hardaway.

Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker on this site, like since 05  anyway, just wanted to weigh in on these recent draft picks. My heart sunk when McClemore fell to 7 and knowing that we shoulda had the 7th pick if Was didn't get a lucky bounce in the lottery, but I suspected all along that Burke would be the one to "drop" (and I'm a big Michigan fan) but I wanted no part of him, and if the draft played out this way, KCP was who I wanted, so I'm not exactly bouncing off the walls with this pick, but I recognize this was the pick that needed to be made, and I like the player we got.

KCP- I see as a Kerry Kittles type upside, a starting SG who shoots well and plays good D on a contending team.
His floor could be anybody from Sammy Mejia to any number of 3 and D bench wings.

Tony Mitchell- LOVED this pick and as soon as I saw Ray McCollum(sp?) go off the board I told my brother Mitchell was gonna be the pick. As far as talent and upside, its litterally through the roof, I liked the McDyess comparison but think he's more of a wing threat. But as for his most likely best case senario IMHO is tough to figure, but I'm gonna say...

Ceiling:Laphonsoe Ellis

Floor: Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams

Siva I don't expect to make the team, sorry, I remember Will Blalock and I don't see an NBA future for Siva,

KCP ceiling - Rip Hamilton, has high basketball I.Q who has good understanding about floor spacing. Capable of scoring off 2,3 dribble pull ups. KCP as more athletic and a better defensive motor.

KCP floor - prime Mickael Pietrus. 3 and D guy who can star in some highlight reels.

Tony Mitchell ceiling - Kenneth Faried/ JaVale McGee. Drummond had serious questions about his motor when he got drafted, and look how it turned out.. Tony's biggest knock is his motor, and if he works on it like Drummond did, I can't see why he can't be better than Faried. His shooting is already better than when Faried came into the league. If his motor doesn't change he still could be a pretty special player with his athleticism. If hes gonna turn out to be a headcase then he could aswell be the shorter version of JaVale.

Tony Mitchell floor - Trevor Booker. Dunks and rebounding are keywords here.

Peyton Siva ceiling - Lindsey Hunter/ Mike James. Sivas bread and butter would be his defense, playmaking ability and his 3 pt shot.

Siva floor - Janero Pargo. Journeyman 3rd string pointguard.

It's hard to put a ceiling on Tony Mitchell...since most of the players he reminds us of have been busts. Stromile Swift, Tyrus Thomas...can't think of a pure athlete who's had his heart and basketball IQ questioned ever become anything worthwhile in the NBA.

I suppose Josh Smith would be his absolute upside if he develops a heart and motor.

I like the pick just because if he can be motivated, at worst he should be a solid defensive contributor off the bench who can guard multiple positions.
