Is it still possible for us to match Clark's deal so he can come back? Or has that boat already sailed?

Well for years I use to say Pau couldn't play the 5, well now he's better suited for the job. Frankly speaking the 5 spot is changing anyway. There's no longer the power bangin centers that use to roam the west. And overall it's only two young solid centers with post game in the league that is Drew and Roy Hibbert. After that it's no one that can slow and wear down a team with consistant post ups.

So Pau at 33 is still going to be productive. I think this young generation of fans bang too damn much on age age age. Hell Kareem won a Finals MVP at 37 and was still pretty damn productive at 38 ans 39. So to me Pau at 33 can still produce if he can stay healthy for a few seasons.

We just have to find a special type of 4 man that can mesh with him. I'd to see if we can pry LaMarcus Aldridge from Portland.....he ain't happy up there and its a known fact. But I don't think Portland will budge.

It's sailed on my brother, the Lakers could match if it was just one year but the Cavs knew the Lakers cap situation and offered two years knowing the Lakers didn't want to go into the cap plans for next summer.

Regarding Pau, here are some of his numbers by position:

Code: Select all

      Offense     Defense     Net48    W    L    Win%
======================================================
PF    100.2       99.6        0.7      21   24   46%
C     106.9       98.9        8.0      22   15   59%

PER 48:

Code: Select all

eFG%    FTA    REB    AST    T/O    BLK    PTS    PER
PF    .454    4.3    11.5   6.5    3.3    1.6    18.1   15.4
C     .517    7.2    13.8   4.2    2.4    2.1    22.9   22.0

Opponent PER 48:

Code: Select all

eFG%    FTA    REB    AST    T/O    BLK    PTS    PER
PF    .517    4.4    11.7   2.8    1.9    1.4    21.4   17.2
C     .478    3.8    12.5   2.4    2.2    1.8    16.7   14.4

Net PER 48 Production:

Code: Select all

eFG%    FTA    REB    AST    T/O    BLK    PTS    PER
PF    -.063   -0.1   -0.2   3.7    -1.3   0.2    -3.3   -1.8
C     +.039   +3.5   +1.4   1.7    -0.2   0.3    +6.2   +7.6

Outside of him obviously looking much better the numbers strongly indicate that we'll flourish with him at center. The key is whether or not he can stay healthy and if Hill will remain effective next to him.

Good points Deep, but Earl is unrestricted free agent, so the Lakers wouldn't be able to match (if u meant in CBA terms) once he signs that deal. Earl's deal with the Cavs also reportedly has a 2nd year team option, so the plans for cap next summer would still be at play if the Lakers were allowed to match that offer from the Cavs.

http://www.news-herald.com/articles/201 ... 216600.txt

They agreed on a two-year, $9 million deal on Thursday with unrestricted free agent forward Earl Clark, a league source confirmed. They can't announce the signing until the moratorium ends on July 10.

The second year of the contract is a team option. It was first reported by The Sporting News.

Agreed DEEP.

Except that Aldridge would mesh well with Gasol. Gasol needs rebounding, some physical presence, and defensive quick feet next to him in order to provide that perfect mesh as you say.

Aldridge ain't that.

Kendrick Perkins ? Who could be possibly amnesty. Could be a guy to come off the bench and give out fouls against bigger stronger centers.
