58 wins: would you take over/under?

Post#1 » by Da_Kidd » Fri Jul 12, 2013 1:05 pm

Granted everyone's healthy, I'd definitely take the over if we were to follow Kidd's philosophy of sharing the ball. I really think the parts that BK have assembled all fit since all these players do not need ISO ball to be effective and everyone is willing to sacrifice for a title.

Let's get this season started.

I'm not taking over because that probably means our older players play too many minutes .

KG, PP, AK can all rest in games and our frontcourt of Brook, Reggie, Mirza, Mason can easily compete and dominate some East teams alone.

I want to go after that 64-18 record and secure a #1 or #2 seed. Rest is understandable but being 4th again would be a waste.

Over. Regular season in the East will be EASY MODE. Atlantic Division sucks and a lot of teams will be tanking for Wiggins and them. Nets talent, size and shooting will overwhelm most opponents.

I wanna say 60 wins on this but I don't want to give myself that type of expectation just because the Nets, in the past, have always failed me. So i'm going to say 55 wins

Over.

Last year the team had so many flaws and still won 49 games. We also lost at least 4-6 games we should've easily won because of poor coaching/play that lead us to blow big leads or digging a deep hole in the 3rdQ.

Almost all of the weaknesses has been addressed, except maybe coaching, but I think our coaching staff has improved even though I didn't like the Kidd appointment.

Defensively on paper we are a better team and offensively we have way more weapons and everyone except Reggie can score and not be a liability. In regards to rebounding, we shouldn't have a problem. With the way KG plays so hard in practice Brook is only going to get better and I really see him stop being the king of boxing out and go aggressively for boards.

The only thing that stops the team from winning this many games is the injury bug. The kind of bug that has taken out 3-5 guys at one time. While this is possible, it is unlikely. With the good bench depth the team has, limiting guys minutes and not having to force guys to play through certain injuries is huge.

I suck at predictions, so I won't make an exact one but I think the Nets will/should reach the 60 win mark.

I see a ton of people mentioning things like this and it just seems like such a misguided thought to me.

We won 50 games last year. If pierce and KG both missed 82 games you are still replacing Wallace with Kirilenko and Evans with Blatche. that along with half a dozen teams outright tanking would likely be good enough to get us in the 53 win area. let alone what pierce and KG give you.

We have alot of age, but we also have insane depth. i see no reason why KG/PP cant play 25 mpg over 65-68 games and stilll not win 58-62 games

Up until last night I said 59-23 was optimistic but do-able.

Now...?

(Don't kill me I just think we will have a couple stumbles along the way)

They should just let KG, Pierce, and Terry rest.... So I say under....

In a perfect world with everyone healthy I would take the over. I believe they can transcend the 49 wins they posted last season.

Not to sound too homeristic- but adding PP, KG, AK-47 should at least get them 10-15 more wins- right?
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Anything less than 150 wins next season is a failure.

Normal rotation:

Deron/Livingston/Taylor
JJ/Terry
Pierce/AK47/Toko
KG/Evans/Mirza
Lopez/Blatche/Plumlee

Without KG & Pierce:

Deron/Livingston/Taylor
JJ/Terry
AK/Toko
Blatche/Evans/Mirza
Lopez/Plumlee

Without KG, Pierce, AK47:

Deron//Taylor
Terry/Livingston
JJ/Toko
Blatche/Evans/Mirza
Lopez/Plumlee

Without Lopez:

Deron/Livingston/Taylor
JJ/Terry
Pierce/AK/Toko
Evans or Blatche/Mirza
KG/Blatche/Plumlee

Without Deron and JJ:

Livingston/Taylor
Pierce/Terry
AK47/Toko
KG/Evans/Mirza
Lopez/Blatche/Plumlee

So, there is really no reason for not reaching 60 wins or more even with injuries or resting games.

Under. I think you guys will have a shaky start and finish strong, like a better assembled Lakers last year. Without injuries, I would say 56-58. But I'll stick with 52 for now.

If Deron gets hit by a bus right before the season starts, I will take under.

Question: Can AK play both SF and PF spots ?

So AK will be our backup SF/PF ?

Man we will be loaded...Even if Lopez goes down we should be able to hold up the front court with a combination of Garnett, Blatche, AK-47, Evans, Teletovic and Plumlee...I have a feeling Plumlee will see more minutes this year than expected.
