I think people are already mixing or confusing what this is all about already, my understanding from reading the rules is this is about career projection etc after they made the All Star Game and how they mesh with said teammates for the most part or am I the one that's wrong?
Kareem had one of if not the longest and highest peaks/ primes longevity in NBA history and is a great piece to have for nearly 2 decades.
Again...this is a very subjective process. At the end of the day, you are building the team you want to see play.
However, in terms of how I view the judgement process...I outlined it to be based around a player's "good years". So if a guy took 5 years to develop in to the player he truly was, you are throwing out those first five years. In MJ's case, you are throwing out the Wizard days. I never intended for you to start looking at them from their first All-Star appearance, it was more entering their prime. Both fairly similar...but if a guy has a great year but hadn't made his first All-Star appearance yet, I would still take this season in to consideration.
With my #6 pick...there were probably a few guys that I should have taken ahead of Hakeem in terms of trying to win this thing...but I honestly just didn't want to draft them. I thought I would have more fun building around Hakeem than those left on the board...so I went with Hakeem.
Kareem is definitely a great pick, regardless of how you want to look at it. As you said, the guy's career spanned a ton of time and he was effective for quite a bit of it. That is definitely a plus when you are talking about judgement. If he was there for me, I certainly would have taken him for those reasons AND that he would be just as much fun to build around (in my mind) as Hakeem.
Again...this is a very subjective process. The opinions in this are going to be much stronger and different from one another than a regular B-a-T. That is what I like about the idea.
