Re: Archie Goodwin
I love how Goodwin attacks and draws fouls. Anytime you can get a rookie who already knows how to draw fouls, that's a very good sign. He had 10 pts despite making just one basket...impressive.
I wish he would trust his jumpshot more though. And Hornacek needs to let him to go iso a little bit and see if he can break down the D in a half court set. For now, Goodwin only seems to be playing well in fast break.
And he needs to take uncontested open jumpers and 3s when he has it instead of driving it in all the time into a crowd of 3 players in the paint.
I hope we keep Scola also because with the way Goodwin attacks the rim, he's gonna have to learn to flop and Scola can teach that.

He needs to be a better ft shooter.

I'm still not sure how he slid all the to the end of the first round. Does anyone know why so many teams passed on him? I look at a handfull of the picks taken before him and can't figure it out. Hopefully it was just him being young and raw.
Does anyone know his downside that caused so many teams to pass on him?
1. poor decidion making/turnover prone - he played part of the season as PG
2. poor shooting

Yea definitely. But it looks like a confidence issue with him at the line rather than anything else.

Re: Archie Goodwin
How about prime Sprewell? Athletic all star calibre slasher and defender, especially if he can develop a consistent jump shot.

Re: Archie Goodwin
I've thrown the "Sprewell" name with Goodwin for a while...
But he is a better ball handler I think... and higher ceiling... the movement and athleticism is comparable but Goodwin is 18 and will improve.

Re: Archie Goodwin
Wonder if Goodwin's improved shooting was done by himself or with the help of Hornacek.

McD said in one his interviews that he was amazed how much Goodwin had improved his shooting from the end of his college season to when they had their draft workout with him.
Now that's what I call a good work ethic.

Re: Archie Goodwin
His 3pt shooting has been excellent in summer league. He seems to have the patience to take good shots.
I really wanted Oladipo who looks really good but Goodwin is starting to be a good alternative.

David Thorpe:
Someone needs to explain to me how Archie Goodwin of Phoenix dropped so far in the draft. How can someone that young, that quick, that long, and that energetic fall that far? GMs will have some explaining to do, as will lots of scouts.

Re: Archie Goodwin
Honestly, depending on our starting lineup, Goodwin should be the first guard off the bench. Either that or starting at 2 next to Goran. The way he attacks is something we haven't had in a 2 since...? When did we have a 2 that attacked the rim?

Guys, it's summer league.
It's reallllllly nice that he's showing these tendencies and the mentality, but....it's summer league.

Yes, I know. It's nice that he's looking good, but lots of people look good in summer league. He's got good tendencies which can be clear regardless of setting. Let's hope it translates into regular season action.

Yeah true but seriously what Suns player from recent years have looked more promising than him? Let us enjoy this while we can lol
We've been been blessed to watch DJ Strawberry, Alando Tucker, Taylor Griffin, Earl Clark, Robin Lopez and Kendall Marshall.

20pts on 5 field goals? that's insane production for a guy who could still be in high school
Loving the pick the more he plays. He won't be a star right away, but he needs to be given the chance to play at least 15-20min every night. If Brown plays more than him this year, I'm not going to be amused.
That hesitation move where he toasted the Raptors' #7 was NICE...
