There's a reason Nate can win a team a series and not receive interest from them in the summer. He's a journeyman for a reason, though his game has improved.

I think this is correct. I think Oden wants to play here but his people are doing everything they can to grt him the mml. I'm guessing Riley has offered more than the min, perhaps a 2 year starting at $2m, explaining the tax ramifications to Oden's people and telling them if they get a legit mml offer, to give the heat one last chance to consider using the full, hence the auditions. But now Riley is sick of waiting and is putting pressure on Oden to get nervous with this Camby threat and have oden push his people to take the deal on the table.

Exactly the feeling I got.

I think you vastly overestimate the intelligence of most NBA front offices.

WD wrote:Heat Could Have $50M In Cap Space Next Offseason

The Miami Heat could have approximately $50 million in cap space next offseason.

LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all have opt-out clauses in their contracts, representing $61 million in salary for 14-15. All three could opt out to assure more guaranteed years at the maximum allowed under the CBA, but they also could structure their deals in a way that allows the Heat more flexibility.

The $50 million estimate assumes Haslem, Anthony and Andersen don't become free agency and the Heat pick up their option on Norris Cole's rookie contract.

James and Bosh figure to be recruited by other teams, but they could add a fourth big name player if they all take significantly less. Wade has already expressed a willingness to take the biggest pay cut to create cap space for teammates.

The cap holds for James, Bosh and Wade would be larger than their reduced salaries under that scenario.

i clearly remember a couple weeks ago some posters on here belittled me and told me to go re-read the cba for suggesting this exact scenario.

heh

Anyone here think Lewis can provide this year? I feel he can definitely give something to the team with Miller's absence. I really hope he either works his way to the starting 4 spot or provides serious minutes there.

He's too much of a defensive liability to provide quality minutes there. He worked at the 4 for Orlando because they had Dwight (and Gortat). He's not strong enough, especially in terms of lower body strength, to hold his ground down low against most PFs. He could be a guy for around 10 minutes a night though, giving us offensive sparks with his scoring ability.

i heard he had a european offer.. but definitely strange that he still doesn't have a team

Not really. Teams know Denver is gonna match any MMLE offer so they don't even bother offering it because it would tie them up financially for a bit.

Gary Neal is 6'5 Nate Robinson or a Soggy version of J.R Smith. With that said ... I'd take him.

Hey, beggars can't be choosers. For the vet Min, he's better then most of the other options.

Oden, Neal and Ennis would be a very nice summer for us.

Spo meeting with Oden alone just the 2 of them is a huge sign..
