PG is loaded throughout the league. SG's are out there and not being paid as much as AA. Granted, AA is better than someone like Neal, but Neal was also just paid half his price. Also add that Phx took on Gerald Green and his 2 years at $3.5mil/yr.
Yeah, I'm not really thrilled about the 2014 FA class, so taking on a contract like that wouldn't bother me that much, but you're right that it improves the value of the trade for Indiana.
In any event, I'm just saying that vets like these can be very valuable for depth on a contending team. The Pacers gave up a pick to add a vet who will likely only play about 20 minutes backing up West and playing along side him for short stretches when they go small. That's exactly the sort of role Meer could play as a backup PG, and AA could play an even bigger (starter's) role.
Yeah, but Scola is more durable and has a much better contract than AA, Big Baby or Nelson.
