Doesn't make sense for us either. We already have David Lee, and Monroe's big contract is coming up soon.

I think it's not something EITHER team does now, but, depending on how other things are going...both can have interest at the Deadline or in a year. If GSW figures Bogut is NOT the C for the next few years or is injured too often to be affordable...this becomes a top option to look at. If the Pistons see that Monroe and Drummond ought to play C and Josh is best at PF...then Barnes is a tempting SF to get.

The Dynamic of Curry + Klay as sharpshooters from 3, means GSW won't want to deal Klay.. Also...Iggy has been a bit better at SF than SG IMO.

This is what I was kind of thinking
Iggy's gonna do better at the three in the system you guys run, and probably going to start
So if your going to run Curry-Klay-Iggy-Lee-Bogut. As much as some people mention Barnes being able to play the four, I was wondering if it'd be in you guys' best interest to look for a more versatile 6th man or something. Barnes and Monroe being involved in a deal makes sense. Detroits kinda doing this "go for it" thing, but maybe involving a third team or something in a trade to the tune of the rumored Pierce for Barnes offer to give Detroit an option there.

I've heard random deals combining Barnes and Lee, but the overall depth would take a hit there even if you got a Lamarcus Aldridge back.

Curry-Klay-Iggy-Lee-Bogut with Monroe being off the bench would be quite interesting.

Monroe seems fine in Detroit, they should keep him.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

I would totally trade Millsap for David Lee straight up if it was possible.

As far as the Suns go, there's nothing they can offer short of their unprotected 2014 1st rounder that would even really make me consider giving up Barnes.

If Barnes is the same Barnes from the regular season I'd agree. But then again the suns wouldn't.

If we get first half Lee plus 3's (rumor is he's practicing them, and I noticed a lot more arc on his shots during the playoffs), I'd be a little more hesitant to trade him, but lots of people have proposed the above deal which I would probably take.

I think Serge Ibaka or Larry Sanders would be a great trade next season for David Lee as we transition the offense from lee to give Thompson and Barnes more looks. If we keep Bogut, him and either Ibaka/Sanders would be the best defensive front court in the league.

I get Presti screwed the pooch on the Harden thing, but even a handy from Anna Kendrick wouldn't be enough to con him into an Ibaka-Lee swap.

Just no way the Thunder will touch Lee's salary when they passed on paying Harden a similar amount.

If you're looking at replacing Lee with a PF thats better defensively and 'passable' on offense, I still think Thad Young and Amir Johnson are more realistic candidates. You'd probably have to find a 3rd team to make either trade happen, but those guys should at least be available.

Yeah, I'm not, but I am curious if any pro player, ever, developed a three point shot well into their career. Seems unprecedented. Troy Murphy went about 3 years before he started shooting 3's. Lee has been in the league 7 seasons now. I think Zach Randolph tried for a few seasons, but he wasn't able to do it.

Jamison made himself a decent 3 point shooter after 5 or 6 years. The difference with him, though, is that they pretended he could play small forward, so he went through a couple of years of shooting 200+ attempts at just over 30% before he bumped it up a bit to the 35-36% range.

Jason Kidd comes to mind
Jarret Jack: “I brought one of my best suits. But looking down at this jersey, it’s just a sense of pride I don’t think I’ve ever felt as a professional. … Nothing in my closet is better than what I have on now."

One particular hope that I had was that Lee had more arc on his shot during the San Antonio series, so that may lend to more accurate shooting, if not from 3 at least from midrange. I'd love for him to push his midrange shooting to around 45% to be elite from that area. But his midrange shots are essentially corner 3's distance...he should just take some from corner 3's...sigh.

Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan developed threes....wasnt 7 years like Lee, but its not impossible.

Good call on Magic. He went 9 seasons before putting in a regular three ball. Though it's hard to look at different eras. The three point line was introduced to the NBA in '79, so it was still new during his first 9 years in the league.

Jordan's best years (percentage and volume) in shooting the three was right after he returned from his year off but those years also coincided with when they shortened the line for a few years.

JRich went from shooting the 3 at around .333 his first three seasons to shooting it at .400 in years 7-8.

Lee probably shoots around 40% on long 2 pointers, so a three point shot does seem realistic.

I'd prefer to leave the 3pt shooting to Curry and Thompson and keep Lee in the low post or mid-range. He's our only low post scorer and best rebounder, i don't like the idea of positioning him further away from the basket.
