Dionte Garrett should have been extended. He's playing really good with Durant right now.

I agree moving Marshall and Brown, but Garrett hasn't done anything with OKC. I just watched the game vs 76ers and he barely got in, and in their first pre-season he had 2pts and 2asst.

What I was getting at more was Garrett fits our tempo way more than Marshall does. We could have kept Garrett for way cheaper than Marshall. Ship out Brown & Marshall for 2nd round pick. Makes total sense.

I just don't get why these scrubs are still playing for the Suns.

Garrett looks good every time he gets minutes. His shot is nice, and his quickness is what we need. Much rather see him running with the 2nd unit.

If the Suns win enough games just to not make playoffs at #9-#12 seed, then you better expect fans to be pissed and rightfully so.

I don't know how I feel about the Suns getting the #8 or #7 seed either....making playoffs just to get bounced and likely humiliated in 1st round in 4 or 5 games. I may be ok with this after seeing how we play.

If we can get a 6th seed or higher then nobody will be complaining. Of course the chances of this happening is less than my GPA.

I just don't think I understand. Sure it means we won't get a good pick but getting enough wins for a 10th seed will mean that our current roster is meshing extremely well. Then we could get a player in the free agency to make our team a contender.

It just makes zero sense to me for fans to be upset that the team is good.

Its not called being good, it's called being stuck in no man's land. Either your good enough to be competing in the playoffs annually....or you suck enough to get players who will eventually become good enough to lead the team to be competing in the playoffs annually.

Or you get stuck in the middle drafting players whose ceiling is probably as a role player. And the Suns still need more star power and need to draft more players with star potential before signing expensive free agents. Unless those free agents are established stars themselves ofcourse but I don't see any of them rushing to PHX unless there is someone to team up in PHX with or we have to overpay.

This coming draft supposedly provides a great opportunity to draft that star player who can lead us to be competing in the playoffs so why wouldn't we take advantage of that instead of being stuck in no man's land?

I fully agree that getting a high pick in next year's draft may be highly beneficial, and if we manage to land a great player then I'll be ecstatic.

But if we manage to get enough wins to just miss the playoffs, then that might be even better. It would mean that our core at the moment works extremely well. Then instead of getting a draft pick which may be a bust, we could get a star player who is already established in the league.

I think you're not looking hard enough if you think that the only options are playoffs or tanking. Look at Houston. Since Yao retired and they entered rebuild mode, they didn't have a single pick in the top 10. And now look at them. Harden last year, Dwight now. And they are potential contenders for the title. None of that was through the draft.

I'm just saying in the end, I'll be happy with whatever happens this season, unless the team has no chemistry at all.

Which star player that's already established in this league? Give some names who you think would join a Suns team that's #9-#10 seed in the West.

And it's better to suck to get more star players via draft where they want hurt our salary cap at opposed to overpaying on the free agency market. Look at what OKC did with Durant. They got Durant then absolutely sucked to get Westbrook. Then they sucked with Westbrook to get Harden. That's how they made it to the Finals last year.

Look at what GS did. Drafted Curry, then sucked and got Thompson then sucked and got Barnes and added Lee & Bogut as complimentary pieces and now they are a contender.

Clippers....drafted Gordon then sucked got Aminu, then sucked got Griffin and then used Gordon and Aminu in the trade to land CP3 who wanted to play in LAC cause of Griffin
.
Another example of a team that is rebuilding right now....the Cavaliers. Drafted Kyrie and then has sucked to get Benett, Thompson, Waiters etc.

One draft with high picks isn't enough to build a contender 98% of the time.

Did we really transform the pre-season game thread into a "tank or not" thread AGAIN??

Sf88 forgot to mention that both GS and Clips have sucked for many many years yielding very little except high picks that did absolutely nothing for their team.

And every one of the example basically won the lotto, yielding the best player in those drafts.

I don't think the Suns have much to worry about in that department. The team won't be winning much as the roster currently stands and should have a legit shot at Wiggins. However, if guys like Gortat or Brown can be moved for a future asset, it probably is a good idea.

Either way, the Suns have a great outlook and are a fun team to watch in the interim.

Since all of you watched one preseason game and are talking about playoffs I had todo it.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

I'll never get tired of that clip.
