Giving all the numbers about how high a % of his shots were assisted means very little as he will not be playing that way moving forward.
I really don't see why Utah (and everyone else) are locking their guys down prematurely. Favors hasn't had sufficient court time to wear off his rough edges, GH hasn't shown he can handle the burden of being a high usage player day in and day out (he has had some really inconsistent stretches over the years; its not easy being the guy). But there was no reason to give Wall a 5/90 deal before this season. I think Milw got a discount for backing up the truck for Sanders a year before they needed to but there is no discount in paying guys the max. And any one of these guys could prove unworthy this year. Wall has never had more than 4.5WS. GH and Favors haven't proven they can be the cornerstones of a franchise. And they can match anything. I just don't see the benefit in prematurely giving players more than they are worth.
I can understand Washington wanting to avoid an Eric Gordon type situation where a guy visits some other places and has various max offers and decides he really wants out. Yes, they can still match, but building around a disgruntled star isn't generally a good idea.
I also think it is obvious that Wall would have gotten multiple max offers. Since I think he was an obvious max contract guy as a FA, I can understand why they decided to take care of him when they had the chance this past summer before he got big eyes from being wined and dined by extremely high profile teams like the Lakers.
Wall had a gigantic impact last year after he came back from his injury. The Wizards had the worst record in the league at 5-28 before Wall returned from injury. They were on pace for 12 wins at that point. 33 games is not a tiny sample. They were historically awful. The fewest amount of wins in an NBA season is 15. After Wall returned, they went 24-25.

Looking for someone to destroy the locker room? A not-so-stealth tank?
If he's terrible in the locker room then release him. It may be why Philly did just that.
Philly released him because they didn't really want him all that much in the first place. Houston sent cash to pay his contract for this year. Houston cleared up the cap room they needed, and Philly got a prospect they liked in Aldemir for the 1.7M in cap room to cover White's contract. White was basically a free roll for them. Ultimately, they got a prospect they liked in Aldemir for 1.7M in cap room. That is a good deal in my book.
The news on NBA.com about the trade from the 76ers highlighted Aldemir. The headline is, "Sixers Acquire Rights to 21-year-old Center/Forward Furkan Aldemir of Turkey"
http://www.nba.com/sixers/news/130713-a ... hite-tradeAlso, seven weeks after the trade when Hinkie was talking about the offseason with media:
As for the embattled White, Hinkie answered a question about White’s possible role on the team generically and never mentioned White by name.
An NBA source said the Rockets, who dealt him to the Sixers on July 6 along with a second-round pick and Turkish power forward Furkan Aldemir for future considerations and cash, are picking up the $1.7 million salary of White, who has an anxiety disorder and is afraid to fly. That means the Sixers have nothing invested in White — and that the 21-year-old Aldemir was the primary target in the deal, which the source confirmed.
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... ladelphia/White is a POS who needs to remove his head from his ass, so I'm not at all surprised that he was released. I hope he figures things out so he can pay his child support. He's an embarrassing clown at this point. He has done an enormous disservice to all the people who deal with various mental illnesses everyday.
