Some teams will use a "clean cap method" to building their team and many NBA teams use kind of a "contract accumulation method" to building a team. Ainge does the later. IF he likes Shumpert as a part he could build around, I dont see why it wouldnt be a possibility since it saves the Celtics significant money. Felton would also decline his 2015 option. No way he will want to be part of a rebuild.
has there been precedence for that from the celtics particularly in trading a piece like rondo? i see how they'd like shumpert, but given that it's a trade to an eastern conference rival, with no previous relationship between ainge and the knicks gm (that i know of) i would imagine he'd want a little more than shumpert.
Given that Dolan has the patience of a time bomb I cant ever forsee building around picks until he steps back, changes, etc. If he is here with his current approach, we cant think drafting as anything other then a supplement to established talent is a real possibility. And it sucks because if you threw in a few cheap picks around 2-3 stars it could be a juggernaut given that Dolan, to his credit, has never been cheap. Its probably the best thing i could say about him from a basketball standpoint.
yeah, i agree. given his lack of patience, though, perhaps it's the only ting left for him to try next. maybe I'll just tell myself that.
