Melo also needs a secondary scorer, a role Irving can also fill. Kyrie is a baby still he is on the upswing. Rondo is in his peak years. By 2015 he will be on the downside of his career. Kyrie will be right in his prime. Kryie also wants to be here as stated by Mitch Lawrence this past week. Kyrie does have flaws. So does Rondo, attitude not the least of them.
You hit it right on the head with Billups and you also hit it right on the head with Melo needing a second scorer. As far as the Rondo vs Kyrie thing, Kyrie would be an ideal choice mainly because of his young age and all the potential he has unfortunately he's gonna be a RFA and the Cavs will match every single offer he gets. There is a risk with Rondo because a lot of his game relies on athleticism and we don't know how his knee will hold up but so far from what I've seen from Rondo is spectacular.
A lot of people get on Rajon for his inability to shoot without realizing that he's actually improved as a shooter and makes up for his jumpshots with his ability to penetrate the lane and score buckets.
This is the same guy who carried the Celtics on his back against the Heat in the playoffs a couple years ago, not to mention he had a big duel out with Derrick Rose and outplayed him in the 2009 playoffs. He's not somebody you say hey drop 30 for us but if you need to he's capable of doing it.
