Finally, the Pistons are another slow-starting Eastern team, and league-wide speculation is they will try to move the expiring contracts of guard Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva in search of more talent. The Pistons could act soon, sources said.
The Pistons have had to rely on Stuckey of late with Chauncey Billups injured but Charlie Villanueva continues to man the end of the bench having played a total of just five minutes through the team’s first ten games. Stuckey is playing too important of a role to trade, especially right now but could Villanueva be on the move soon? Perhaps, if there is a team already looking to unload a functional player for salary cap relief next Summer.
While Amico’s sources used the word ‘soon’, these types of deals are more common closer to the trade deadline. Still, we shouldn’t be caught of guard if some trade news breaks.
Its no secret they've been shopping them all summer, but the news here is that it sounds like they could be close to a deal now.
Its worth noting that the report by Amico that is being cited was actually published a week ago and somehow went under the radar. So the Pistons could've changed their minds since then after winning two of the last three games. Or it could also mean they are even closer to making a deal now.
