I hate that excuse. If you suck, then yes, the schedule becomes more difficult as halfway competent teams can beat you.

this is my first year following the pistons (been following Jennings for his career) and I must say it makes me a little sad to see so many people on here be so negative.

the defense has been a lot better in the last two games, which is definitely a step in the right direction. the offense looked really bad against Atlanta and was the worst offensive game of the season.

this team has talent, and talent usually finds a way to win in the regular season. the playoffs are way too far away to say how we'll do there but I am very confident that we can get it going.

please don't be so negative guys, okay?

Lol, this board is ridiculous for its overreactions. When we lose it's time to blow it up and get back in the lottery and when we win we will be competing for a championship soon.

I like this team, we need another tweek, but I would only move Charlie V, Singler, Jarebko, and Stuckey. The rest are good pieces. We're gonna hang in there and make a strong run in the second half, if we hover around or below .500 all the way to the trade deadline, then just play above .500 after the deadline we should make the playoffs in the east.

Yep
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

The pistons aren't going to have a lottery pick, so beginning talking about it is kind of pointless lol

As bad as they are right now, they are still the 8th seed. I doubt they are going to get any worse than this, so worst case scenario is probably 8th seed or missing the playoffs and getting the 12th-14th pick which would go to CHA.

I can't see any situation where they end up 8th worst and keep the pick.

As bad as things seem now, trust me you don't want this team to go into the tank. Then things will get really ugly and while it would probably get rid of Joe and Cheeks, we would be left with a bunch of disgruntled vets on long contracts in Smith and Jennings. I could see thing get ugly if that happened and the last thing they need is a divided locker room that you can't do anything about because of contracts. Even if you got the top pick, thats not the type of environment that's going to lead to that rookie developing properly. This team needs to right the ship with the players they have or make some trades. Tanking for more rookies is certainly not the answer.

I've been very concerned about coaching this year. Our players look lost half the time.

I think we are lucky to be in the 8th spot at this moment, I don't think we are going to be there by the end of the season, I can think of at least 8 teams who are could easily finish better than us.

Heat
Pacers
Bulls
Nets
Knicks
Atlanta
Charlotte

That's true to an extent, but there's no way that's way we have had the toughest Eastern SoS. There are plenty of teams that are playing just as bad if not worse than the Pistons right now. By comparison, New Orleans, Cleveland, and Charlotte, three similar teams, have had the easy schedule so far.
Count that baby and a foul!

I agree that the Nets and Knicks could ultimately finish better, but I don't know about the Cavs, Wizards, Bobcats, Raptors etc. It doesn't seem like any of those teams have been or have potential to be any better than us.

I think we are lucky to be 8th too at the moment, but I think this East is just really bad and probably going to stay bad. Plus even if we miss the playoffs, that doesn't mean we keep our pick. Its only top 8 protected. Even if 8 of those teams above make it, we could finish right below them and still have to give up the pick. Not to sound negative, but we traded the pick already. Best to just forgot about it and move on trying to win.
