I really dont know what Chicago's mindset is. For them this is strictly more of a stay competitive type of move more for next season while getting something in return for Luol Deng instead of getting nothing in return if he walks in FA.

So next season they have Rose/Smith/Butler/Boozer/Noah a young prospect in Hardaway Jr and expiring contract in Bargs.

Its obviously a trash offer if Luol wasnt an expiring contract and had more years left in his deal, but his trade value decreases with his impending free agency.

Replace Jr with Shump and they will certainly think about it, since Shump has more value as a player. And less of a headcase. But I wont include Shump in this type of deal. I would much rather trade Jr away to any team and let Shump have more freedom on offense.

The Knicks arent getting a draft pick for a player on an opt out, they'll have to sweeten the deal to get any team to bite....not like the Bulls would do this deal anyway, especially not with Thibbs as the coach.

Neither player would start on his team, they dont defend like starters should.
