I think this will be great for Knicks and good for Rockets.

Sure, let's trade our second best player for a low IQ 5, who has demonstrated nothing throughout his career

You must be confused, Rockets would be the ones trading Asik. They're never doing a Bargnani swap, though, that is just laughable.

IMO, what is laughable is even comparing Asik to Bargnani. Passing abilities, man to man defense, offensive skills. Bargs is simply superior in each category. Asik is a better rebounder. And so? As long as melo drops 10 feb per game I'm fine. What exactly someone like Asik would add to the knicks?

What's so special because he is a good defender and rebounder... Guy has no offensive skills and slow mobility ...good player but nothing to get your pants wet about

Asik is an infinitely better defender and rebounder. He would allow us to move Tyson for an upgrade too.

Actually, we should reconsider his supposed abilities in light of the Knicks' defensive system. You can be a top defensive player, but as long as you are part of a team, and the team has players like melo, Jr, Felton and Amare, you are not gonna improve anything. As for the rebounds, what is wrong with melo dropping 10 feb per game? We all know that bargs is not a good rebounder and his teammates are aware of that too.
On the other hand when taking seriously the Bargs/Asik swap, have you considered that our offense would become extremely one-dimensional? Bargs is bringing a lot in terms of offense for this team and provides melo with a plausible second option

This is completely untrue. Tyson has a very noticeable impact.
I would start Asik and trade Tyson for a PG. That shores up our offense and defense.
cengizoezdemir wrote:You should consider what Omer Asik has done to a very poor defensive team last year. I think he will improve the defence of Knicks vastly. Having a better defence will help knicks on transition offence which most people ignore. Also Omer Asik is a very good pick and roll player which can help Carmelo a lot. He is very physical and big, in that sense he will also improve the offence.
Another point which is ignored is that having Omer will make Tyson Chandler expandable, so Knicks can swap him for a better offensive player. I think having Omer will put this team on the top of the division.
Knicks will also save a lot of luxury tax because Omer makes 3 million less than Bargnani.
For Rockets, Bargnani's jump shooting abilities and passing game could be a good asset. It is definitely a better match than Omer.
Both players have 2 years left on their contracts so in that sense, neither party is taking a huge risk.
