I'm a big Cousins guy. I've been on here preaching his gospel for the last several years now. Most talented offensive big to enter the game since the 90s IMO. And some of his skills are just about unprecedented. I can't think of any 270lb dude who's ever handled like him, and he's just flat nasty in there. He's off the national TV grid at the moment, but anybody who gets to see him play on league pass is in for a bit of a 90s throwback. Far more than Dwight has ever been, Cousins is that dominant center that just turns the entire paint into a giant rugby scrum. He posts up, teams double him, triple him, bodies start crashing to the floor in all directions, and he still scores. He's a beast in the old school meaning of the term.

What has he ever done that's unprecedented, other than get suspended over and over?

this is kind of like adding me to your "best-ball" golf team.

I guess you might add harden's 3p shot...

No player that size has ever handled the ball like he does. He's prone (sometimes overprone) to leading the break himself. He drops crossovers on guys and attacks the rim from the top of the circle like he's a guard. Once I saw him steal a ball in the open court, and beat Jeff Teague by dribbling it through his legs. Not Cousins's legs. Teague's legs. There have been a handful of PFs who could do some things like that, Barkley and Webber come to mind. But no 275lb centers, as in ever.

SacKingsPejaFan wrote:Uh assuming this post is about Demarcus Cousins, where are the geniuses that I argued with last year who said Cousins would never amount to anything because his shooting percentage sucked? The guys who only read box scores and don't watch games? The guys with no statistics education whatsoever who spout off their flawed, pea-brain metrics and have no response when I introduce a basic concept like variance? Right, sit down. DMC is shooting 50% now and averaging 22.5 and 10.5. And he's still getting triple teamed nightly. Take this as a lesson learned.

I haven't seen many people question Demarcus' talent. I did see a bunch of people point to his efficiency last year as evidence that, although talented, his play left a lot to be desired. I think that was true then and true now: he did underwhelm a bit last year. Mostly in terms of decision-making.

Now, his play has picked up, but his attitude is still up in the air, and the Kings are still losing. And not just losing, losing every game.

You accuse others of only reading box scores and not watching games. Well, I have watched several Kings games this season (big Mclemore fan), and I feel for y'all. But what exactly is there to be happy about beyond Cousins' box score?

Wilt did those things even better decades ago.

LaMarcus Cousins has a fantastic mid-range game, but he has a temper.

He plays well whenever Damian Lillard and Marcus Thornton are on the floor with him.

Some combos I'd like to see from way back

Reggie Ming - 7'6" and drills threes like it's breakfast

Kareem Abdul JaBird - ditto

John Johnson, the John Stockton / Larry Johnson fusion

Kobe Bryant Reeves, aka the Big Black Country Mamba

Kind of a worthless hybrid since defense is not MJ's weakness, and the better defender than Bruce Bowen.

DPOY
MJ - 1
Bowen -0

All-Defense
MJ - 9
Bowen - 5

MJ might have the GOAT offense, you could make a strong case for several others, depends on we're just going by scoring, combination of scoring and playmaking, volume, efficiency, etc. For example, Wilt has basically every scoring record except for career scoring average (which is a hair off of MJ's) and total points, which I wouldn't expect a player from the 60s to have the longevity of players that came in more than a decade after him. Wilt also led the league FG% and assists, so he has the complete package, scoring, efficiency, and great passing too.

Is Carmelo Melo ever going to play his way back in the league?

Blake Blake and Jordan Jordan are a nice combo out in LA.

Jonas Cousins might want to try music. Not sure if he's cut out for this hoops stuff.

Paul Paul is definitely headed to the Hall of Paul.

Louis Lewis is just a role player at this point.
