The 24 year old is ready to step into the rotation for a contender. He'd likely never play for us. It's asset accrual, not player development. You only think of player development when you get your next draft pick.

That's kinda the point. He's not very good, and certainly won't be on the Raps (helps the Tank). But he's an expiring.
