Crazy to think that after it looked like we committed a robbery giving up just Omar Infante and Mike Dunn for Dan Uggla, that we would have been so much better off not doing that trade. I can't see the Braves paying two 2B this season, so I don't think Infante is coming if they scrap Uggla. If we have to pay Uggla to play for another team they'll just try to run with La Stella or Pastornicky at 2B. Can't see them trying to trade him for a bigger contract either like Brandon Phillips, don't think they want to bog that position down when they have cheaper options in the minors.

Going to miss Huddy, but can't blame him for taking that kinda money. He got 3 years, $27 million from us 3 years ago when he was 35, you can tell baseball is screwed up financially when he gets almost the same total amount of money for 2 years when he's 38.

Glad we reached an agreement with Everyday Jonny and hopefully O'Flaherty will come cheaper since the Tommy John surgery. Overall, I think the Braves are in good shape for 2014, if the bullpen can stay remotely healthy this season as opposed to last they are stacked especially if O'Flaherty comes back. I still like the offensive potential of the team even with the roster how it is. The major concern is inexperience of pitching staff, but with Roger McDowell leading the way, that will help pave some of the potholes that we are likely to encounter with them. Still think the Braves will sign or trade for a veteran pitcher once they get arbitration players dealt with and figure out how their financial situation lies.

Although I don't blame him, good contract for a player his age. Hard to pass up.
However,I really would have liked to have him back. We all know the player, club house guy, man he is, would have been good to have a vet in the rotation with these good kids we have.

Thanks Tim! Best of luck to you! (Except vs the Braves of course)

I'm just thankful that he was a Brave.

I really enjoyed watching him pitch and he started off with the Oakland A's who are the only other team I care about.

Infante can play multiple positions if I remember correctly. That means he can play the outfield as well as 2nd base which would come in handy covering both Uggla and Upton

That kind of money for Mac is totally insane! Stunned that he got a 5 year deal and stunned he got $85 mil. Happy for him tho. He was a class act and a great Brave. But Atlanta was wise to let him go because they could not have sniffed that kind of contract for him. Made it easy on him to leave taking that kind of huge deal.

Buster Olney thinks the Braves should trade Craig Kimbrel. I'm not an insider and didn't read the whole article, but he says Kimbrel will cost too much for the Braves soon. IDK I'd keep Kimbrel.

Closer is one of the most important positions in Baseball and we have the best closer in the league without question. We'll find money for him.

this is solid for us, we'll get some pitching depth (We, more than anyone, know how important this is) and we won't have to spend that much money on him considering the fact that Floyd is coming off Tommy John.

If we get Floyd, I'll be happy with the signing. Very solid pick up if we land him.

Reports are that Floyd was targeted by the Os for a 2 year deal but rejected their offer to take less from us on a 1 year deal.

Like the signing. But I think the team needs to do a bit more to stay on top of the Division. Others have made pretty strong moves. I know Wren will do what he can, but he is limited in what Mgmnt allows him to do. Man, how I wish a billionaire would make an offer and buy this team! Someone who just wants to win.

Agreed, Wren is also handicapped with the future extensions for Heyward, Freeman, and Kimbrel looming over his head. The Massive contracts which Uggla and BJ Upton are signed into isn't helping either. I just hope that we re-sign Eric O'flaherity to solidify that bullpen.

The Braves have traded SP prospect Sean Gilmartin to the Twins for C/OF/1b Ryan Doumit. I'm also an FSU fan and hate to see Gilmartin go, he's similar to Minor.

wow, I did not see that one coming. I get that depth is needed and that Sean had a rough season, but I'm not a fan of the move: Gilmartin is one of our better pitching prospects and has a future as a regular rotation guy (as a lefty as well). Sigh, Wren made the move he had to make to get us into a better position to win next season and I don't blame him for that, but I hate to see us trade away Sean. Why can't we have Yankees money, although if Ted Turner were to get back into baseball...
