“The referee was calling for the ball, and I refused to give it to him,” Williams said. “He might have asked me about four or five times, and I didn’t give him the ball. I saw Mike (McCarthy) running up the sideline and I knew we were going to try to do something.”
Super smart play by tramon btw, the refs were blatantly trying to steal the game from us by the end. Huge props to him for standing up for himself and his team and for simply being heads up. That may have won us the game, who knows, even with him holding the ball the upstairs ref still barely got the challange word down to the field before the next play was snapped. MM deserves credit too for calling the time out, I'm not used to him making decisive heads up decisions at the end of games in pressure situations...
Next year your going to have to wait till NYC central office to deem it changeable, then pass word along to the stadium referee, who passes word to the ref.
I like the idea of having the NFL challenge plays, but in situation of seconds this will never work. Coaches should have challenges if they have time outs. Hell if you don't have a TO under 2 min, have the coaches challenge with the risk of a 15 yard penalty.
