Put yourselves in the position of the Rockets

Why in god's name would you want those players?

I think they'd take a package of Mirza, Plumlee, Bogs, and a 1st if Nets offered. JET would match salaries probably.

I'd like to have another draft pick in the next 10 years. Its not worth mortgaging the rest of the future for Asik. What if he then gets hurt? He currently is.

Bogs, Plumlee, Mirza, and that 2020 are the remaining assets this team has. I'd do a rebuild package with Houston to get rid of DWill.

I really want Jones and would be willing to throw in some of those assets along with DWill, AK, for Asik, Lin, Jones.

I was just throwing out a hypothetical for a package Houston would take for Asik. What they're doing right now in inexcusable. He wants to be traded and you're not using him, at this point they're just wasting his career.

And I support the D-Will trade, as a Knicks fan I've clamored for them to offer Melo + bench pieces for Lin, Asik and Jones as well.

Little discussed, but I want to know the hell told Brook to put on all the weight in the offseason?!?

A guy whose screw bent this summer decided to put more weight on his foot.

Brook needs to lose all that weight his put on ASAP

I disagree... Brook needed to bulk up... he was too weak against other bigs and worse smaller centers.... he never put in the work to get big in his earlier offseasons, he finally did so... he just needs to play through it....

His brother Robin is a fantastic rebounder, defender, bangs against other bigs without the extra weight. Even after all this weight he added Brook became a worse rebounder and took a number of long 2's.

Its not a matter of bulk, its a matter of heart, desire, and effort.

id rather he bulked up and get stronger, cause that was the only thing that was going to help him. he wasnt going to magically find heart/desire/effort in year 5 or 6 of his career.

The screw in his foot bent this summer. And you think he should add more weight and heighten the chance of reinjury? He's the teams best player and one of the best centers in the league, need him out there

How did the added weight help? He was rebounding worse than he was last year. He still was taking a high number of long 2's.
He's slow and prodding to begin that and adding weight only enhanced that. Opposing guards were blowing by him more than in the past.

the added muscle didnt help him... but its really the best course when you consider:

-is he gonna get quicker and faster? no.
-was he gonna become more competitive? no.
-was he gonna become a tougher player with heart? no.

so really, getting stronger was the only chance of getting him to play better against big guys who play with intensity. i dont think 10 lbs was gonna make a difference with his foot. either way what was gonna happen was gonna happen. its not like the guy moves fast or plays hard. it is what it is.

either way, we move on. we were never winning with lopez as one of our 2 best players anyhow. and we were getting embarassed this year with him in the lineup. probably better we move on sooner rather then later

Brook and Robin are naturally different type of players in the league... Robin is more of what you said above because he's limited offensively however Brook is offense first thus he requires more muscle to bang more often than Robin.

Brook has a terrible bball iq, for a big his size, he hardly positions himself in the areas where he'll be the one with the advantage... thats mental and just flat out knowing how to play basketball. Brook must feel compelled to be the first one back, i cannot fathom why he plays like the way he does...

He does need heart, desire n effort, no doubt but he needed the muscle to play like a first/second scoring option which he is and robin isn't.

Took a look at Cousins' per 36 numbers. My god I would take him over Brook in a heartbeat

the point of having that extra weight/muscle was to allow him to bang inside or attack in the paint where his game/money maker really is....

he's bailing out the defense by staying away, thats not the weight that's his stupid IQ of the game...

been saying it for a while now. cousins has tons of issues, but the dude wants to win and plays with a chip on his shoulder and doesnt back down. unfortunetly there is 0 chance of this ever happening now.

dude is going to be a beast, especially once he gets some veteran talent around him. he has already made huge strides this year

Brook gained 15 pounds this summer and came into training camp at 290. That is a lot of weight to put on a foot where the screw has already bent.

This is a guy who came into the league at 255. He's added a ton of weight since then.

And yes adding all that weight will slow you down. He looked visibly slower this year on rotations, getting beat of the dribble etc. It was a poor decision.
