His brother Robin is a fantastic rebounder, defender, bangs against other bigs without the extra weight. Even after all this weight he added Brook became a worse rebounder and took a number of long 2's.
Its not a matter of bulk, its a matter of heart, desire, and effort.
id rather he bulked up and get stronger, cause that was the only thing that was going to help him. he wasnt going to magically find heart/desire/effort in year 5 or 6 of his career.
The screw in his foot bent this summer. And you think he should add more weight and heighten the chance of reinjury? He's the teams best player and one of the best centers in the league, need him out there
How did the added weight help? He was rebounding worse than he was last year. He still was taking a high number of long 2's.
He's slow and prodding to begin that and adding weight only enhanced that. Opposing guards were blowing by him more than in the past.
the added muscle didnt help him... but its really the best course when you consider:
-is he gonna get quicker and faster? no.
-was he gonna become more competitive? no.
-was he gonna become a tougher player with heart? no.
so really, getting stronger was the only chance of getting him to play better against big guys who play with intensity. i dont think 10 lbs was gonna make a difference with his foot. either way what was gonna happen was gonna happen. its not like the guy moves fast or plays hard. it is what it is.
either way, we move on. we were never winning with lopez as one of our 2 best players anyhow. and we were getting embarassed this year with him in the lineup. probably better we move on sooner rather then later
