Beasley should definitely get minutes now

Battier cant hit a 3 and without that his impact is way down. Shocks me why he still starts, id rather have beasley or even lewis as a starter.

RexBoyWonder wrote:The funny thing is Lewis still plays better then Haslem and Battier this year. Not sure why you make Lewis the example of undeserved playing time.

Based on this year's, on the court only, level of play :

Beasley

Lewis
Battier

Haslem

Lewis plays ahead of Beasley this year and Shane has "Earned" the right to play ahead of Beasley. Shane no matter what brings D, energy and you know at some one he will repay you for sticking with him. Shane has won titles for us! Lewis has not! This is why Lewis is my target and not Shane! And you didn't answer my post above when questions why Beasley doesn't play

GameTime_3 wrote:I laugh at the notion that Beasley hasn't earned anything? But Rashard has? Someone please explain that one to me because every test fails when arguing Lewis > Beasley.

Michael Beasley is averaging 11ppg and 4.2rpg in 17 mins of work? Those numbers put him as one of the best bench players in the NBA and yet it serves as nothing or hasn't earned him anything? Lets take away Beasley out of this conversation and just call him player X. Well, player Y(Rashard Lewis) is doing what exact to earn the minutes ahead of X?

(Y) Rashard Lewis this year? 19mpg 4.4ppg 2.2rpg?
(X) Michael Beasley this year? 17mpg 11ppg 4.2rpg?

I would understand benching Beasley if he wasn't playing well, not playing defense or if someone was out playing him but this year, Beas has earned the right to see the floor over Lewis. Lewis earlier in the year was playing good D and hitting the jumper but its been months since we have seen that Lewis on the court. YET! SpoBot once again, is missing the ball because I'm guessing he doesn't care for Beasley or wants to set an example. This is about WINNING and Beasley gives us a better chance than Rashard Lewis and Udonis Haslem. So please cut the crap about Beas doesn't deserve it. Well Lewis doesn't either. Please also cut the.. Beasley doesn't play D...Watch a game, its superior to Lewis this year... Please also cut the.... Beasley is taking dumb shots...This year hes been great at that and Lewis latley has had alot more of those than anyone not named Chalmers and lastly please cut the...Were teaching Beasley....Beasley saw this off-season that no one wanted him, he came here with out any nothing promised(Even his contract for the year), he doesn't need to be taught crap, he knows. Right now this is a serious case of a Coach who is holding old feeling against a player from the past and not doing what's best for the team. Lucky for this team we have a GREAT TEAM but any other coach who's team didn't have this talent, do this kind of biased coaching, would be called out by any fan base.

SpoBot is coaching like Joel Anthony! Dropping the ball!
GT3

I rest my case, IMO, he's our X factor, but it seams like we treat him like a scrub....

Mike is an impactful player, he should see consistent minutes or be in the rotation EVERY GAME if healthy/available. His minutes should not be based on the opponents roster or if someone is out.

Beasley's Minutes:

...in his last 12 games leading up to the strained hamstring: 19.8 MIN

...in his 1 game played since returning from the strained hamstring: 20.0 MIN

...in his 4 games played during the month of December: 22.0 MIN

Ray has been our only reliable shooter of late, so it sucks that he's out. Looks like James and Bosh will have to do a lot of heavy lifting, and we'll need them to get us this one because the next two games will be tough.

Looking forward to the Blazers game although on paper it seems like a nightmare matchup:

--Blazers make the most 3s (welp)
--Blazers are the second best ORebing team (double welp and in b4 14 ORebs and kickouts for threes)
--Blazers don't turn the ball over; currently, they are the fifth best at protecting the ball.

I hope we get this one and then have everyone available for Saturday.

More time for Beas, JJ, and Mason Jr. then? Oh, and Joel too, I guess.

There will be no excuse for Spo to NOT play Beas for 25+ minutes tonight.

WD wrote:DWadeno3 - I have no choice but to trust Eric also, and I have given him more credit than I've complained about him(still not a fan), but you are basically proving my concern which goes to my question "why is he STILL in the dog house" for past issues? Who in the funnk want to keep hearing about "what was done before".

I am not arguing AGAINST any coaches decision, none of us has behind the scenes access, well GT3 and a couple of others. I am commenting on what is said in FRONT of the cameras.

Here is my point about Mike. If he can help this team offensively, he should get minutes in every game he's healthy and able to play. His defense is night and day from before.

p.s. I did not read you complete post, just the highlights...Mike has not DEMANDED ANY MINUTES, and by you mentioning Min/Phx - I'd hate for you to be MY coach.....if we resigned him to give him another chance, THEN DAMIT, GIVE HIM another chance..not fair to keep bringing up old sh@t

He's still in the dog house because he has yet to prove to be a consistent and reliable force in this league. It's a shame he hurt his hamstring, because otherwise this discussion wouldn't even take place. My point is and still stands that it shouldn't be a given for him to be in the rotation, as you alluded to. Again, the guy is not some proven great player and prior to getting hurt, he's seen more than enough minutes and, contrary to your belief, his defense wasn't as good as you make it to be. He played with a lot of energy, which is to be expected in limited minutes, but that doesn't mean he always defended well.
As a team defender, I still like Lewis better than Beasley.

But I'll give this a rest, the Beasley crew in here is getting even more ridiculous than in his rookie/2nd year with us.

I'm done with this, we share a different opinion. You seam to be looking at the individual player, I'm looking at the basketball player

That's not the point of discussion here and it seems to be you who's caught up with Beasley's individual talent rather than his contributions to the team. Either way, it's a matter of whether he should be on the court or not and you think he's shown to be so good that he ought to play while I don't. He can play, but we have other options.

I didn't use the words "so good", I'm tired, going to get some rest, let's remove Mike from this convo.

1. I don't feel Eric knows how to manage talent not named the big three

Now let's insert him

2. His answer for why he didn't play Mike against the lakers IMO was bull sh@t-period

Daaaaaamn we need scoring to beat the Kings (unless we actually play defense), looks like Beas gonna have to drop 30 or so next to Bosh and LBJ. That'd be cool.

Oh ****, these West coach games are now at 10pm.... wwhhhyyyy

While I'm at it, let me say this about Mikes issues in the past. I believe he would have been a better ball player if he started his career with another team.

IMO he didn't need to come to such a structured system , he looked at Drose and probably thought he should have been treated the same. Fair or unfair and that's my opinion.

Eric has lbj, you know how we know? Cause he relies on him Heavy every game IMO

Beas isn't in the dog house. Spo just doesn't know how to manage his minutes and it's looking like that more and more every game. Lewis is going to have to come out of the rotation for Beas to be a more intricate part of this team.

Last year Lewis started off like this again. He looked good, was in the rotation, then he magically FELL OFF. I expect Spo to do the exact same thing. One thing that we see every year, is our rotations are never set in stone, they will change. He is the best scorer off the bench, you'd have to be a fool not to let him play more down the road. We definitely need him come playoff time too. Shane will always play though, but who knows, if he continues to suck even come playoff time, Beasley will take that spot or Lewis. Spo inserted Miller instead of Battier when he was struggling. One thing about Spo now is he doesn't hesitate with his line up changes come playoff time, unlike 2011.

It's frustrating but just be patient...
