From what I read, his worth ethic and interest in the game had diminished the last couple weeks so the Cavs decided to get rid of him before things got worse. Apparently his last 2 games were a big factor in the decision to get rid of him

oh, thought it was a specific incident. Thanks.

if the cavs don't find a buyer by the jan 7th deadline i believe they cut him, $6M is an expensive bet that another team will take him on this summer prior to the 2nd trigger date + they would likely have to deal with a grievance from the player's union if they deactivate a healthy bynum for the rest of the year...

trade partners either need to be teams near the tax line who don't believe they're competing this season (celtics, bulls, lakers, raptors, wizards) OR teams with space who are interested in adding the instant cap relief asset for this summer if the cavs are willing to kick in additional cash to cover the remaining $6M (hawks, magic, bucks, sixers, suns, jazz)

I really hope he doesn't go to Miami.

Is there a deadline for when Cavs would need to waive him?

Honestly, I don't think he'll get cut. He would moonwalk right to Miami. CLE knows that. He's either going to be traded or they're going to swallow the loss and keep him. But if they cut him, wow. That would just about do it for the NBA for this season barring health. But I'm not getting my hopes up. He'll probably say he wants to come here so other teams overpay him.

Another small market? Unlikely. But it would be pretty beastly. A frontcourt that's all 6'11" and up. There would be no scoring down low for anyone.

I'd love it if for no other reason than to see Bynum and Perk on the same team. Oh my god, you thought that rumor of KG and Dwight being traded to the Clips was funny?

Release Joel Anthony, sign Andrew Bynum, don't make him play until the in April. Miami Heat will finally have a Big lineup.

PG: Wade
SG: LeBron
SF: Bosh
PF: Oden
C: Bynum

You do know that Ibaka has a mid-range game right?

It is so damn annoying because in 2011-2012 he looked like an absolutely dominant centre who could change the game on both sides of the court. The guy is as gifted as any 7'2 player could be.

I meant defensively. Ibaka hits 3s for crying out loud! No one would be able to score in the paint against you guys. I'm not delusional. That's a nightmare to face right there.

Ibaka just swatted a shot as I typed this. OMG if Bynum we're down there too?!

Kareem puts it best:

I believe Andrew has always had the potential to help a team when he puts his heart into it. He just doesn’t seem to be consistent with his commitment to the game. That can lead to a lot of frustration for any team that has signed him.

When I worked with Andrew I found him to be bright & hardworking but I think he got bored with the repetitive nature of working on basketball fundamentals day in and day out… but they are the keys to long term success.

In my opinion Andrew is the type of person who walks to the beat of “a different drummer”. So we won’t know the facts until Andrew decides to tell us what actually is the issue and shares his thoughts.

Whoops, did not read the rest. I apologize for my statement, but I do agree that Ibaka n Bynum can be a force defensively. That's if Bynum gets his head straight.

And it makes sense for OKC to pursue Andrew Bynum. If OKC can move Perkins and bring in Andrew Bynum, that would put OKC over the top. With KD & WB on the team, they will make Bynum play basketball.

But it's not going to happen....

A lot of people here are saying the team who gets Bynum will basically be using him as cap relief. But in all honesty, Bynum is playing solid basketball. He seems to be (somewhat) healthy too.

As for the HEAT getting him, Dan Gilbert wouldn't "allow" that to happen.
