Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
3 team deal:
Bos:
Out: Bass, Bogans
In: B. Gordon, 2014 POR 1st
CHA:
Out; Gordon, '14 POR 1st, '15 or '16 CHA 1st (top 12 protected)
In: Bass, Dunleavy, Hinrich
CHI:
Out: Hinrich, Dunleavy
In: Bogans, '15/'16 CHA 1st
C's clear Bass' contract and pick up a late 1st from Portland. Charlotte gets 3 useful players for an expiring contract, a late 1st in this draft, and lotto protect '15 or '16 pick. They'd still retain Detroit's '14 1st. Bulls continue to clear salary and pick up another draft pick

- The Charlotte Bobcats are shopping Ben Gordon, according to league sources. They have talked to many teams about the veteran guard and are trying to move Gordon's $13,200,000 ending contract for a player who helps them win now. Charlotte has played well this season and currently sits in the East's seventh seed. They're expected to be buyers at the deadline, because they want to make the playoffs for just the second time in franchise history.

Looks like they're serious about making the playoffs, MKG will be back soon and they need a vet or two, maybe Bass,Crawford,Bogans for Gordon,Taylor and DET pick ?
Eventhough they liked Hump and may still do, Bass and Crawford is tough to pass up. Crawford is better than Taylor who is out for the season. Good trade for both teams.
Charlotte seems pretty set at combo guard (Walker/Sessions), so I doubt they'd have much interest in Crawford.
Bass/Bogans maybe.
If only we could talk them into taking back favorite son Gerald Wallace. He shoots 3's like they're free throws!

Clever inclusion of Chicago (Charlotte could definitely use Dunleavy), but my goodness, Charlotte trading 2 picks for 3 half-decent bench players, two of whom are over 30? No way.
This would make more sense:
Boston sends: Bass/Bogans/Crawford
Boston receives: Ben Gordon
Charlotte sends: Ben Gordon
Charlotte receives: Bass/Hinrich/Dunleavy
Chicago sends: Hinrich/Dunleavy
Chicago receives: Bogans/Crawford
Boston shouldn't expect a pick for Bass - he's on a negative value contract. Crawford is the weak sweetener we throw in so we don't have to give up a pick.

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
I'd offer the Cats Bass/Green for Gordon/MKG and see if they bite.. but given that they're in the playoff hunt with Kidd-Gilchrist missing time, more likely the best we can hope for is Bass/Bogans for Gordon..

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
And the only Gerald Wallace trade I can envision is to SAC for Thornton and Fredette, maybe with Crawford or a pick leaving for the Kings. They get a defense-first veteran who 'plays hard', we shed salary and hope Thornton can come back to life as a bench scorer..

Wallace's extra year kills almost any trade value he has.

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
Wallace will be traded next year at the deadline IMO. No chance this year. Unless it's a massive deal again like the PP/KG one.

Actually... no, he's not. He is quite desirable as a 3rd big. DA has already turned down a late first for him. #fact

Re: Trade Landscape/Trade Ideas
I was thinking about this trade for a few days and now have to post it in this context:
CHA: Bradley, Green, Wallace
BOS: Gordon, MKG, DET and POR pick
Charlotte gets great playoff push and a parter for Walker, defensive minded one. (Though both being undersized is bad)
Boston gets picks and MKG while dumping Wallace's contract and not overpaying Bradley. Ainge can go rouge during the offseason and offer Hayward max money. This would get us terrific young core:
MKG, Sully, Hayward, our high pick, two mid-first, one late first while also keeping Rondo and all of the picks.
Not sure if CHA gives us both picks, but just Detroit one would be a great push.

Wallace and Bass for Gordon works moneywise.
Who says no? BOS OR CHA

I detect a little sarcasm there with the FT shooting..but yeah he is just great from 3 pt land. especially how he bends sideways when shooting them.
why would they not have interest in crawford who is a sweetener and expiring ?

When did DA turn down a first for Bass? That's the first I've heard that.
Bass is making $6.5 mil this year and almost $7 mil next year. He shoots well under 50% from the field and can't rebound and is too undersized to protect the rim.
Look around the league to see what similar players are making: Luis Scola, $4.5 mil, Dante Cunningham, $2.2 mil, Jason Smith $2.5 mil, Nick Collison $2.6 mil, Jason Maxiell $2.5 mil, Boris Diaw $4.7 mil, Ty Hansbrough $3.2 mil...
The direct comparisons are Big Baby (widely perceived as overpaid), Carl Landry (a much better scorer than Bass) and Amir Johnson (a better rebounder, better size).
He's not an albatross, but he's not a prize commodity. A slightly negative value.

Cap space and a first rounder for Kirk Hinrich? That's a great deal. That's like saying we would laugh if anybody offered us an expiring and a first for Bass.

A top 12 protected pick for Kirk AND Dunleavy? Because they can get a late first rounder for each of those guys AT WORSE.
