I believe it because the Heat have guaranteed Mason's contract. I haven't heard if they did guarantee Oden's contract, but I think the Heat would have cut someone by now to get Bynum.
I don't remember the last time a report said "Heat weren't interested" and they ended up getting the guy.
Though now that I think about it, people said Beasley back to Miami was false. But the deadlines right now have all passed.
Now if the Heat can somehow get rid of Joel, they'd have Bynum by now...
I dont think thats true at all. If the heat had cut Mason by the deadline, it would be so obvious they were going after Bynum and might have pushed up his market value. Other teams will go after him just to keep him from the heat. Not cutting Mason, and putting out news that we arent interested may bring Bynum's market value back down to the vet min. I seriously doubt that Pat Riley would even hesitate to cut Mason if he REALLY wanted Bynum even if it meant having eat the rest of Mason's contract. Its not that much tbh.
HOWEVER, this is not to say I know Pat Riley's intentions. But i dont think not cutting Mason is any indication of whether we want Bynum or not. And yes Oden's contract was always guaranteed, from day one it was. A vet min 1 year deal.
doesnt oden have a 2 year deal with the second year player option if i am not mistaken ???
