I am the first to call him out if his game was really off.
All things considered, Paul had a solid game in support of great games by DW & MT.
He absolutely categorically needs to shoot/score more when Joe/Deron are off - & Joe was indeed way off yesterday. I have watched him a long long time. He occasionally plays too unselfishly. He is STILL more than capable of providing 20-30 points (more often than once every 5 games) IF the game requires it.
Let's agree to disagree & focus on beating the Celtics (who need as many losses as possible to maximize their tank & get Jabari Parker or Embiid), Raps & then upsetting OKC again & the Pacers. If the Nets somehow get this done & go 13-1, they will become the hottest topic in the NBA.

But he didnt play a solid game; he was -9 in a game we won by 1 point, and in the final minutes he missed 2 free throws and allowed dirk an easy rebound and putback. He was non existEnt in the first half, and had a couple big turnovers during a stretch where the Mavs cut into our lead.

Having 7 points in a quarter doesnt overshadow that. He played poorLY. It happens. You can acknowledge it without losing pierce superfan status :)

LOL.

Still disagree. You are obsessively hypercritical. You remind me of me with regard to my obsessive dedication to excellence in the teaching & practice of medicine.

Focus on the last sentence in my last post.

Right now, I am already getting antsy & jittery because of tomorrow's "return." Wish I could be there. Fans are going to blow the roof off the Garden when Paul is introduced.

you last sentence had nothing to do with the mavericks game. this being a "mavericks @ nets thread" there is no need to address that. ill worry about tomorrows game tomorrow.

there is nothing hypercritical about what i said. its all just the facts.

* he was a -9 in a game we won by 1 point
* he missed BOTH free throws where 1 make ices the game
* He missed a huge key rebound allowing dirk to put it back in keeping the mavs alive

He scores 7 in the 3rd quarter. great, its not like score 17 or took over the game. he didnt play well, and if we lost, he'd have been one of the biggest reasons why.

I'll let you have the last post.

We have so many haters on the general board.

Wasn't able to watch the game due to power outage, glad we came away with the huge win. Concerned about the Boston game, this one could be a trap, emotional game and all.

Let them hate. This team should be 10-0 honestly this month, but they decided to take a game off against the Raptors, which was inexcusable behavior imo considering the hole that they've dug for themselves.

But as long as we get out of that hole by the break, that's all I care about.

-Over the last 10 games (9-1), our MOV (margin of victory) has been +6.3. Our SOS (strength of schedule aka average opponent SRS) has been +0.48 (a pretty strong schedule). So our SRS (MOV+SOS) over the last 10 games has been +6.78...that would rank 4th best in the league over the entire season, behind only SA, OKC, and Indiana, all of whom are 8+ SRS teams. So we've been playing like a top 4 team in the entire league over these last 10 games, and like the 2nd best team in the Eastern Conference.

-Our ORating over the last 10 games has been 111.5 against an average 105.4 DRating (+6.1). That means we've been playing like the league's 2nd best offense in these last 10 games.

-Our DRating over the last 10 games has been 104.6 against an average 106.1 ORating (-1.5). That means we've been playing like the league's 10th best defense in these last 10 games.

-Mirza Teletovic over the last 10 games: 11.2 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.1 apg, 0.7 TOpg, 50.6% FG, 47.5% 3PT (70.7% TS, 129 ORating)

-Joe Johnson over the last 10 games: 17.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.4 TOpg, 47.5% FG, 35.7% 3PT (57.7% TS, 116 ORating)

-Paul Pierce over the last 10 games: 13.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.6 apg, 2.3 TOpg, 42.3% FG, 29.3% 3PT (53.7% TS, 105 ORating)

-Kevin Garnett over the last 10 games: 8.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.5 TOpg, 67.4% FG (70.3% TS, 117 ORating)

Nice post. It's really an impressive turn around especially since we've actually been playing some tough teams during this stretch (GSW, Heat, Hawks x2, Mavs, Raptors). Winning our next two are key because then we face OKC and Indiana on a back-to-back so chalk those two up as losses.

Btw, where do you get the splits for SRS? Also, do you know where to find splits of drtg / ortg?

I calculated the SRS and ORating/DRating myself. It's not that hard. ORating/DRating...BBR records the ORating and DRating for each game, so I just calculated the average over the 10 game stretch.

SRS, like I said, is MOV + SOS. SOS is average opponent SRS, so just add them up and divide by 10, which is how I got +0.48. MOV is just the margin of victory, so add those up and divide by 10, which is how I got +6.3.

Oh, ok, gotcha. Thanks for the info, will come to use :D (I actually didn't know that SRS was MOV + SOS!).
